How / Why did you chose your wedding date?

We got engaged on Christmas day 2011 (total surprise for me:)) and have already booked our date/venue

We were going to New Zealand in Mar/Apr 2013 so thought we would marry on 20 Dec 2012, have a mini-moon and then go away as planned.
However, due to having to save lots of pennies, we decided to choose 1 Mar 2014 as:
It's a Saturday so children and and teachers in family can attend
It's St David's Day (I'm Welsh
)
And we will use New Zealand as our actual honeymoon :j
The only potential downside is that there may be a 6 Nations rugby game on, but hey, we'll ask for a tv in the bar if so....:D

We've gone for 6th April 2013 - we always fancied getting married in April/May or August, but everything seems to be more expensive in August! I'm a teacher and the 6th April is the middle Saturday in our 2 week half term which will give me a week before to stress and a week after to come down from the big day!
Only worry is that other teacher friends might be away, but hopefully won't be!0 -
we chose April as it is an off peak month with a chance of sunshine. we wanted to get married asap but also give my relatives enough notice to come over from abroad if they wanted to.
our venue offered us the Saturday of May bank holiday weekend at the April price so we jumped. most relatives will have the Monday off so we can make a weekend of it.when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it

We got married on the same date as both my parents and my grandparents. We are all married 28 years apart. That wasn't planned originally, but it was also the 2 years after we got engaged and a Saturday. Worked out perfectly for us

We're getting married on Sat 26th May. Our four year anniversary will be the 30 May, so could've gone for the 1st weekend in June as well, but our photographer (old friend) was already booked for the first weekend in June so we chose the 26th. Worked out quite well, as we totally forgot about the bank holidays being changed for this year, and our venue has bumped the price up massively for the bank holiday weekend!0

We were originally going to chose 8th September 2012 because it would have been our 9 year anniversary (and didn't want to wait another year for the 10th anniversary.)
We found the venue and found they gave 20% off for weekdays and bank holidays so we decided to get married on a bank holiday. The only one left was the 7th May 2012 so we chose that one.0 -
We're the 26 January 2013. We wanted a winter wedding and I am secretly hoping for a bit of snow! When I'm stuck in a drift on the morning of the wedding that will no doubt come back to bite me!
Some snow would look lovely on the wedding photos. I have only just booked it and I am already crazily excited lol. When it gets to 2013 I'll be a mess :rotfl:0 -
We wanted September and the Saturday of Battle of Britain weekend was available - very apt :LOLThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

We chose 23rd June 2012 as it's a Saturday and I have a lot of teacher friends and family and it's also exactly 4 years from our first kiss (sick bags to the ready
) H2B is bad with dates so he won't have an extra one to remember! Plus a year and a half seemed a reasonable amount of time to plan etc and this way I'm a Mrs before a Dr! 0
