How / Why did you chose your wedding date?

Just curious really!

We have chosen the 7th of September 2013 for 3 reasons, first because it was the date we met ( 2010 ) second because it is a Saturday. I know they are more expensive but means more of our friends and family could attend and thirdly because it gives us a bit more time to save up!

Would love to hear why others chose their dates!

We chose our date because we wanted a Saturday, when we saw the venue we fell in love with it and I wanted an autumn wedding. Originally I wanted August (OH wasnt too bothered about date as long as it wasnt in the middle of winter), but our venue has a minimum guest policy, in August it is 120 and in October it is 80, which is perfect for us. So we chose the first Saturday in October!

No special reasons, we are always in Rhodes at this time of year. We need to be on the island for 5 days before we can get married so this date was the 1st possible date. Also as flights are Wednesday & Saturday's we though Monday covered all options for people coming.

We have just book our venue for January 23rd 2013. We aren't to bothered about the time of the year so we were looking for a winter wedding. We wanted January/February 2013 instead of October/November 2012 because we wanted the extra couple of months to save so we can afford our venue. It's more expensive then we originally planned but I fell in love with it.

We're the 26 January 2013. We wanted a winter wedding and I am secretly hoping for a bit of snow! When I'm stuck in a drift on the morning of the wedding that will no doubt come back to bite me!

We went with 8 October as my SIL was having a baby in April, and we thought it would be enough time for them to be able to come as the baby would be 6 months old. Turns out they were never planning on coming! (Edit - they are in Australia, hence the baby couldn't be too young)

But, it was a good date anyway. Weather was great, but it was a bit cheaper and easier to organise that it would be in the main wedding season, and we had no trouble with availability of the church and the venue.

My only regret was that we didn't think about it and do it on the Sunday. Sunday would have been 9/10/11 ! Of course it would have been harder for lots of people.. but a cool date.

We've chosen 31st May 2013 for a number of reasons - it's a friday, it's just out of 'peak' season, it's in a half term and just after the may bank holiday. (I also secretly like the way it looks when written as 31/5/13 :rotfl:)

We got married in August 2011.

Wasn't August because of it being summer, had to be August as my parents & sister were coming all the way from back home (Australia) for a 5 week holiday.

We decided to end their visit with our wedding. We chose Fri 26th August due to them flying home on Sunday 28th August and we didn't want the Saturday as it would be too rushed for them then flying out the next day.

As it turned out anyway Fri 26th August 2011 was the worst day for rain :rotfl:, it rained from the moment I got up to us saying our vows and stepping outside for photos.

But bonus was I did get a lovely photo of me getting out of the wedding car with the driver holding a lovely big old fashioned umbrella for me. One of my fav shots.

It didn't occur to me until after our wedding that I got married on the 26th August 2011 and my sister got married on the 25th August 2007.

So that should be easy for my parents and both of us are born in February and both of us got married in August :rotfl:

We originally wanted 24th august 2013 as that's the date he proposed last year and it's also a Saturday but we ended up booking 10th august 2013 cause the venue offered us a special price for that date. It's also a Saturday and the day after my mums birthday. My OH has his birthday in august and his dad too so it's a very busy special month for us
We could have got married on 31st august which is OH birthday but we decided against it, we also decided against the bank holiday in case people couldn't make it. So that only really left the 10th

We were pretty flexible date wise; neither of us had a set date we wanted but OH had said you need to spread things across the year. I had always said it would be nice to get married on 23/12/2012 but OH said it would be too close to christmas, also his birthday is October so he would have no presents the rest of the year haha! So we decided march/april time would make a nice spread (my birthday is at the end of may so nearly the middle of the year already) In the end we decided on 14 April 2012 partly due to other holidays people at work already had booked off and partly down to the dates the venue had available.

We originally picked 17th august 2013 (OH said middle of August not sure why) but had to reschedule due to OH and his best men possibly having to work in Huddersfield then (they work for the local council events team so generally the events fall on the same weekend evey year) so we decided on the 6th July as the first weekend in July is usually free.
