How / Why did you chose your wedding date?

It's the day we met (17th July) and 2012 was the first one that was realistic in terms of both finance and MrD coming to terms with it :rotfl:0

We got married on 23rd September on a Friday: we got married 10 weeks after we became engaged and really like the month of September ( we always take 2 weeks off then even if we don;t go away) so seems like the perfect month to get married: we just didn't want to wait any longer to be husband and wife and with elderly parents were conscious that we really wanted them there...
All the Saturday's were taken at our venue and I loved the idea of marrying on the Autumn equinox and with the stunning weather we had, it tied in beautifully with our sense of our own personal Indian summer of our lives.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I originally wanted a June wedding but in the end we had to pick August because we're getting married abroad and it had to tie up with school holidays for the guests. So we went for the very end of August (29th) to fit in with flights and in the hope it might be a bit cooler by then!0

We wanted a 2014 wedding because we need to save up, so we opted for 14th June 2014 as we will have been together 6 years to the day so seems fitting to get married on that date.
Unfortunately, what I forgot about is that the World Cup will be starting in June 2014 oooooops.0 -

We chose our date (5 July 2014) because it's the Saturday in line with our anniversary of when we got together. We got together on July 4, 2010

OP - pretty much the same reasons as you. It'll be our third anniversary (so OH only has one date to remember), and it's a Saturday. And being September, there's a good chance there'll be nice weather.
It's also my mum's birthday (she died when I was 16), so it's my way of having her there. We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Same weekend and same reason as us! :rotfl:Having the wedding a week earlier would have cost us several thousand pounds more... :eek:stir_crazy wrote: »We chose our date because we wanted a Saturday, when we saw the venue we fell in love with it and I wanted an autumn wedding. Originally I wanted August (OH wasnt too bothered about date as long as it wasnt in the middle of winter), but our venue has a minimum guest policy, in August it is 120 and in October it is 80, which is perfect for us. So we chose the first Saturday in October!0 -
We got married on Friday 29th April...why???(same day as kate & Wills) OH at the time knew it would be a bank holiday and this meant all of our friends could be there and we made a weeknd of it

We wanted late August/early September as I was doing a college course and was intending to start university this September. So I wanted to have enough time after the current course finished to finalise everything, and to be married and go on honeymoon before uni started.
Unfortunately circumstances have changed so that's not happening anymore, but it's still a nice date!
The year was chosen as we knew when we started planning in late 2010 that we wouldn't have the funds ready for 2011.

Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012
