It would be difficult for DS but look at the bigger picture, isn't it best to do all you can to make sure you are around for the long term, best to miss one birthday than be there for this & none of the others. Health is the one thing not to take chances with.
Have sat down and explained to DS what the doc said, told him that even if I do have to go in we could get the nurses to allow us to have a party there for just the 2 of us, shut the door and watch movies all day.
He was very upset at first but we've been talking about what we'll do whatever happens, he wants to just spend Saturday with just me, we've got a school open day to go to, then he wants to go to a nice restaurant for lunch, then the cinema and then back to my parents.
I think it's getting to the stage were he's fed up being with them, we've never spent so much time with them as we've done in the last 3 months, he's so looking forward to us getting a council house but they've offered us 1 place so far and they have to do a lot of work before they can even let us see it. I'm so hoping it'll be suitable but don't think it will be with DS's health problemsSPC #329 £471/£500 banked

My DH sat her down and explained about the main routes out of Belfast and how it was a small island and at some point she'd end up back in Belfastor spot a very big sign directing her there :rotfl:
As for going up a few notorious roads, she now goes up both but my Aunt starts to shake and it's very obvious that she's "from the other side" so no one will take her because of the way she acts.
When you (or perhaps it was someone else) said about driving on notorious roads in Belfast and being scared, I wondered how bad these roads could be, and were they like the horrible Lake District passes that are scarily narrow and steep, didn't occur to me for a minute you might be referring to the troubles!

ETA Or ask the nice people to throw one in for free, because of the hassle you have had to put up with.
My PC stopped working and had to be replaced, I had my fantastic computer guy build me a new one, I'd had Kaspersky on the old one but he said he considers AVG to be the best so he installed that on my new one, I've only ever had the free versions as you don't really need to pay for PC protection these days, I still get updates etc and *touch wood* have never had any problems.Oooooooo im fumin.
Just been into my local boots, just a small one, to check out the vitamin glitch. I couldnt find the drink so asked the assistant. She didnt really listen to what id asked for and went off to return with a food supplement for people who cant eat. I know im skinny, but i eat, a lot!! She then said try tesco. Noooooo. Next she decided to ask the pharmasist. I tried to leave but she said, oooh ang on i will look in the catalogue.
In all about 15 mins. I had ds3 with me gettin all fiddgety. He decided i needed a few baskets so i told him to put them back, then he thought it was funny to keep pressing the automatic door so i told him to stop and that we were going.
The assistant said to me, does he have a behavioural disorder. What? Well, i dont like tomshout at children if they have adhd or something like that. Once i picked my jaw up off the floor i told her that she was a very rude lady and disorder or not she has no right to tell my child off and if she does i will show her what a real telling off is. Goodbye. Stomps out the shop saying very loudly to my 3 yr old that i was sorry for the old lady being rude, it must be her age!
I would make a formal complaint about the old trout (alternative usage in effect), fancy saying that to someone!
I was on hols when I was about 13, took my brother to the campsite shop (he was 4) for some sweets, he tried to ask for something behind the counter but she couldn't understand him (he and my other brother both needed speech therapy to learn how to form their words), he said it again to me and I of course knew what he was saying and asked for the item. I handed over the money, at which point she asked me if he was slightly !!!!!!! I said no he wasn't and went back to the caravan telling my mum the woman in the shop had asked if he was mentally !!!!!!!
My mum marched us up to the shop and had a right go (at least in her reserved don't-lose-your-temper-in-public kind of way!) and I remember being offered sweets to say sorry and being apologised to. I wished then and I wish now I could have said what I really wanted to - refused the sweets and told the woman where to stick her bribes! I didn't have the guts back then though! No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

Actually just thinking of this ... to keep costs down you could make cardboard cones (cereal boxes?) and cover them. This way you wouldn't need to buy (or make) sticks and bases for the balls to stand on.
Just a thought
(I'll have a go and post a piccie if I'm successfull)
wow great idea, but may be a bit too clever for me! im looking forward to seeing your picture though!0 -

Thankfully it's not as high as it was in Nov 2010 (150!! supposed to be under 30) when I had to stay in hospital for 8 days but have appointment on Thursday with GP to check everything's fine. Not looking forward to it especially if I've got to go into hospital because it's DS's birthday on Sunday and don't want him to have his 1st birthday after his dad died to be one without either of us
hope you feel better soon0 -
Right, you clever lot, I could do with a bit of advice please. I bought an iced Xmas cake at Marks' before Xmas when they were half price, and it hasn't been started. Is there any way I can store it till next Xmas? I know people save layers of their wedding cakes for donkey's years, but have no idea how to store it. JJ any advice? Thank you.Hope is not a strategy.0

Fully wrap the cake in greaseproof paper (Double layer) then store in a tin, not plastic box, every 8 weeks you can open and feed with brandy/rum etc store in as cool a place as possible0
