Bensonsmum, fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for fil

Loving the childhood stories. I grew up in the middle of nowhere and would be out across the fields from morning to night, we picked mushrooms, dad shot rabbits etc, fun times. If wanted to go see my friends I jumped on my bike, yelled inside to Mum to let her know I was off and cycled for miles to get round them all! As long as we let her know where we were going and were home before dark she was happy. Loved fogging orchards (even though we had our own). And in the winter we would run the hose down one side of the yard so we had proper ice to slide on:D

I never knew that coffee was nice until I had my first proper cup at a friends house. We always had "Camp" (no jokes please!) coffee because Dad developed a taste for it during the war in India. Chicory substitute mainly I think?

Same for me, as my dad was in India during the war. Mum always used Camp coffee for making cakes as well.

Re childhood games, my sister works as a dinner lady at a local school and she told me the kids are not allowed any games in the playground, even a football because of health and safety rules,

When I was at school we played whip and top, elastics, marbles, double skipping, conkers and kiss chase, (one of my favourites!!:rotfl:)

Any one else remember these playground games?:j

Any news on when his highness will be re-joining us Nikkilala? I bet he has some stories about what he got up to in his younger days (although they may have been not as long ago as some of ours ifkwim :o)

No news yet on Happys return, Lots of us have sent emails to mse but all we get back is the automated response:(:(:( COME ON MSE I think they're just ignoring us all to be honest and they've not responded to Happy, other than to repost a very small part of the first email he sent:(:(:(
