The thing is that most people think you only get a blue badge for a visible disability, I only learnt this isn't the case quite recently, I've a friend who has Crohns and only learnt last year that she'd been given a blue badge as it's classed as a disability.
It varies from council to council ours will no longer accept doctors letters they are now only issued if you receive DLA0 -
Before I go to bed, who jumped off beachy head???Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0

Last post of the night about the boots sale I promise http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/boots-75-sale-starts-tomorrow-1115102#comments
I do think it's on, I might eat my words but I just have a feeling in my water!;);):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Nikki, if you say the Boots sale is on tomoz I'm gonna check it out. You seem to have a tallent for spotting a good deal
Oops, manners, evening all. almost polished off a bottle of wine (rought few days with the kids) so not gonna post much as it will all be a drunken slurrrrrr.
Not managed to get any of the chock glitch but did get a good deal on the vitamins I normally buy, courtesy of Boots. Just as well as it will kick start the year off well with a healthy start.
Been doing some scanning of the kids bedding in my local but nothing coming up cheaper than the sel.
For anyone who pops into my local, there are still some tatty teddy cheap phone charms and keyrings etc. I got one of the cute snow/glitter globes today too for 37p. Big thanks to OP as it will be a gr8 alternative to chocolate at easter for my DD. There was a box on the top shelf which I think may have more in but there was so much tape wrapped around it I cba trying to find out.
Popped into local Sainsbobs but only a small store so nothing left from Christmas stock. Did get a moshi monster and disney princess 2012 album that I will give to the kids at Easter.
Hope everyone is well, happy and healthy.
HC, please post a pic now that you have less hair. Bet you are a handsome chappy now, not just a happy chappy :rotfl:Avatar courtesey of HC :beer:0 -
Hi everyone - hope you're all well including your lovely pets.
I'm not managing to keep up with the thread at the moment as I returned to work yesterday after 2 weeks off and I couldn't even keep up when I was at home all day so there's no chance now. I've just managed to skim through a few pages and that's my lot but I do thank you all for your useful posts and sharing your finds, even though I don't currently have time to thank each individual post.
Anway, I've just returned from Tesco Blackp@@l Extra on the egg hunt but couldn't find any. I'm rather pleased though as I did find the Sharpie Laundry Pens. I'd looked several times before but had been looking where all the other marker pens were. I found them tonight on a clip strip in the laundry aisle marked at 50p. I wasn't 100% sure if they were the correct ones though, as I thought from the photo I'd seen on here that there were 2 in a pack whilst these only had one in the pack. There's no scanners in my store and there was no-one around on the clothes or pharmacy to check the price, so I decided to just buy 5 of them and thought it wouldn't be too much of a loss if they scanned at 50p each. To my delight they scanned at £2.50 each so I came out with a profit of £7.50 after DTD. When I took the customer services assistant to the clipstrip to show her where they were, I asked if she was going to remove the price in case someone else came along and bought some. She told me that she doesn't do that and that they just make a note of it in a book and someone comes along later and re-prices them. So, if anyone's near this store, it may be worth calling in as there's about another 10 on the strip.
I could do with another Finest Meal Deal glitch, although I wasn't at all keen on the haddock risotto but the rest of the free food and wine was great that came with it.
Take care everyone and big hugs to those who need them.0 -
Right I've penned my letter of appeal and emailed it to the council so will wait and see..... I'm so cross because I'm always really careful where I park.
I've got a blue badge and thought I'd parked in the designated disabled spot as I saw the sign and a long line of parked cars. I had to reverse to get into the space and there were at least two parked cars in front of me.
When I got back to the car....only about 15 minutes later I saw the fixed penalty notice. My front wheels were just over the line in a loading area....but at least 75% of my car was in the disabled parking.
If the other cars in front of me (who had gone by the time I got back....probably knew they were illegally parked and spotted the warden!!) hadn't been there, I'd have realised I was partly in a loading only bay, but as it was I didn't. The worse part about it is that I could have driven a 100 yards further down the road and parked it on double yellows, which would have caused far more of an obstruction than 2 wheels in an empty loading bay!
What do you reckon on my chances of being let off??[/QUOTE
Hopefully you will be fine. trying to catch up and then saw your post and the words blue badge. Those words BB always want to make me scream. My DS has cerebal palsy. Spent yonks in GOSH when he was younger, for various reasons. He's deaf in one ear, hearing impaired in the other, one of his legs is a few inches shorter then the other, amonst other probs. We are one of the lucky ones. He holds down a FT job. When he passed his driving test, I used to make him text me when he arrived at his destination. He had no problem parking at work, as there were plenty of spaces and all knew that DS needed to be able to open his door fully to swing his legs out. Then the company moved site to about 7 miles away. They were very good to the staff. Parking was not an option on site as it was already oversubscribed. They proveded car parking permits for town centre parks, free of charge, to all car drivers. My DS problem was that the car park spaces were 'normal' size and he couldn't get in/out in them. There was one space in the car park that he could use as it was at the end and larger then the others. Problem was, to work 9-5 he had to make sure that he was parked by 7.15 and leave at 6.30!, otherwise he couldn't get in/out of his car. (we had always managed when he was younger so never thought of applying for a blue badge - big mistake). As you can imagine, this posed lots of problems. To park at work he needed a blue badge, as there were plenty of these free. He applied and was refused one because CP is a temporary illness! I was absolutely furious. He was trying to be independent - has never claimed disability benefit etc. They told him this after cancelling his assessment. His answer? Can they tell me when my leg will grow a few inches, Mum? (Yes, I cried, how do you answer that one?). Cutting a very long story short, went to the doctors and he sorted it for him. Within a couple of days, the BB people were on the phone offering apologies, etc, etc. I feel the young (yes, I know I'm biased) get passed over for a BB simply because of their age, not their needs. At the same time my DS applied for a BB, my Dad's neighbour (the local dog walker) got a BB - for my penny worth, simply because of her age. Ageism goes two ways. Sorry, rant over.
Haven't caught up yet. Please can someone bring me up to speed on the Lindor glitch/xclipstrip. TIA0 -

Went for accupuncture on my dodgy shoulder today, was an intresting experience! Was the first time I've had it, and it may all be in my head, but it feels different already. My shoulder isn't in the right position according to the physio I saw on Friday, but since having the accupuncture this afternoon it feels like it's sitting better, iykwim. Very strange, going for the next couple of weeks, so I'm really hoping it'll make a difference, just need to remember to do my physio excercises now!
i've had acupuncture from my gp- i had a headache for 9 days, which nothing would get rid of. I also had a really horrible pain in my neck.
Everything disappeared within 2 hours :j i felt a bit weird and tired after having it done, but she did warn me that it might happen.
Best of all, I can have it when i want or need it, AND i can still give blood as it is my GP who does it :jI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards.
