OMG!! £7.5k!?! *gulp*
Yes - we are going to get a camera, actually one of the divemasters of our local PADI group is selling his. We're going to look at it on the 8th, and all being well we'll be walking away with it.
would be nice to have so we can take a few snaps underwater albeit crap ones not having done the underwater photography course.

Yep, I gulped too although I knew it was never going to be cheap! A lot depends on a sale of some shares I hold so will have a better idea of whether its possible later this year!
You can still get great pics without doing the course! But its much safer to concentrate on the dive than photos, something I learnt the hard way! And it doesn't matter how good or bad you think they are, they will always remind you of your amazing honeymoon!!

No, honeymOon is not booked yet.
August possibly if we r luckily. If not September. BUT then we should be able to get a last min discount, so that would be nice!
And I have now had my confined water dives signed off! :j just have to do theory, then ready for real world dives!

Oh god definitely. Photos will be just a snap here and there, not snapping away as we would do on landBut its much safer to concentrate on the dive than photos, something I learnt the hard way!

On our honeymoon! In the Maldives when it can be booked. OH needs to get it approved which won't be until August at earliest. BUT we are almost certain he will get it- it just needs to be signed off before we can book anything! (which is all set up on computer, he says it's approved and I click book!)
JTR- what wetsuits etc do you wear for Maldive diving? I was in the pool today n yesterday, with a 2.5 shortie, n I was blue by the end of yesterday (after about 3.5 hours)? We werent moving much though, Just wondering what is normal there (and then will add a bit of warm for me I think! :rotfl:):T0 -

Do you know what pool temp was? Water in the Maldives is usually between 28 and 30, I never wear a wetsuit but thats partly because I never feel comfortable in them, I was called crazy in Egypt as water was 23 and yes it got a bit chilly after a while but I was always moving and focussing so didn't really feel it! I have a rash suit for diving now, its .5mm and is more to stop my bcd rubbing than for warmth but I would think a 3mm would be plenty?
Personally I would make sure you have well fitting mask and your own snorkel and maybe fins but wherever you go, the dive centre will have plenty of wetsuits to borrow, they weigh a tonne and take up lots of suitcase room too!

See I feel the cold REALLY badly, generally - I'm still wearing thick tights and wooly jumpers and the last few nights have had my electric blanket on. I wear a 5mm everywhere
(well so far in the pool and in the sea in tenerife). Even though the water in Tenerife was lovely and warm (22-23 deg at the bottom) I felt a slight chill on a long dive.
We're buying the guys camera!!
Canon S90. Very excited.
I'll resist taking photos of the plug in the kitchen sink (when I got my snorkel I practised blowing water out of the top in the kitchen - ha water went EVERYWHERE). 0 -
Hmm... The thing is we both tend to do a bit of watersports now n then, kayaking in the sea a few times a year etc. so I was thinking a 4-5 ish would prob do me for both (thinking kayaking is more active, out of water & not metres below- but UK) OH is less of a wimp! :rotfl::T0

I'm like a seal, I have a layer of blubber to keep me warm! :rotfl:
Yay to the camera! The canon s series are great dive cameras, I love my s95, even for normal land photography. They also really thought of us divers with the available functions,it will have an underwater white balance setting and a vivid colour mode, just using those two will give you great shots!
The only annoying thing is it doesn't have one touch recording like my Panasonic. I'm hoping I will get it back in one piece although I still havent heard from my friend which is a little worrying?!
