Lol we can now keep it all in one place!!
Perhaps we should start with our certification levels? Experience summary etc?
MrD and I completed our PADI Open Water in October in Tenerife. Loved it. We've done one dive post-certification, swam with a greenback turtle - that was amazing!!
Have booked our honeymoon - we leave on 26th July to go to Sharm - with 5 days diving. Cannot wait - although I have been told it is going to be too hot - my usual response is well we're going to be in the water most of the time... but when a colleague who dives said it's still going to be too hot I began to worry!!
Ha I have no wish to dive in cold waters - even with a dry suit! I am a wuss!! Even with my 5mm full wet suit on (and 5mm boots) I can feel the chill at 12+ft if I'm un-moving and gazing at the fishes for too long in 23 deg water!

Would you not dive here in UK. I have friends who dive just off north coast all year round, not quite the same but might make the time pass a big quicker?

ooooh me, me!!!
I did my Scuba Diver cert in Dahab in March 2010 and then upgraded to OW in the Maldives last May. I love underwater photography and am doing a one day course in March.
Here are some links:

MrsD I can't get your link to work, not sure if the album is set to friends only?

Whoop! I (we) are also going diving on our honeymoon. Going to the Maldives, although don't know if it will be straight after the wedding.
We have brought a Open Water referral course, and just have to decide when to take it, as the referral bit is only valid for 6 months unless I am mistaken... We want to complete it (do the open water dives) in the Maldives!
Can't wait!!! ..... Off to do more research, which will only make me want to book it more....:T0 -
Oh JTR... That's where we are thinking of going. This may be silly question seeing as you have those photos... But were you allowed to take them while being assessed for the open water dives?
And would you recommend the diving school there?:T0 -

A good school wouldn't let you. You have enough to concentrate on doing the skills in the OW dives without worrying about photographing things. Hell it's almost enough to even pay much attention to the fish around you!
Am off to go sort out my video - and look at your piccies JTR
But once you've done your OW Dives (there's 4 of them so you can get them done within two days easily) then you could book more dives and go snappy snap then

Finally I have my video up on FlickR and it should be accessible. But because I'm not the 'author' of it I don't really want to share it on here (didn't mind putting a FB link up cause it was to the guys page).
If anyone wants to see me diving with a Greenback Turtle just pm me

Thanks. I might see if I can convince OH to complete it before we go then.... Don't know if that will work though!!

That's why we did our 'pre-moon' to Tenerife - so when we go on honyemoon we're all qualified and not having to 'learn'. (I think diving is very much like driving - they teach you what you need to know to survive but then the real art of diving comes from the many years of experience after). I really want to get some pool sessions in before we go to Sharm just to keep on top of the skills we've learnt. Lol the other day I was quizzing MrD as he drove me to town lol.

We're planning on going back to Tenerife to do our Advanced Open Water in October
They have some rays there that the instructor says she wants to show me

I qualified in Australia in 2005 and did my advanced in the UK (Brrrrr....don't recommend it!) This was before i met OH, he did a try dive in Vietnam and loved it so is going to learn in Honduras when we are traveling later this year on our extended honeymoon, can't wait. We will be going to the Galapagos on the trip, i would love to dive there but have heard the currents are strong and you need to be very experienced..we have love enough to light the streets.0

We're going to the Great Barrier Reef as part of our honeymoon and will therefore be diving. We are going to do the theory and pool based bits at our local dive centre and then, instead of doing the qualifying dives in an old quarry, we're spending a couple of days on a boat doing those final dives and some more as well.
A little bit more expensive but at least there's exciting things to see!0 -

As MrsD says, you won't be allowed to take pics, the OW dives are purely to asses your skills and buoyancy, it might also depend where you then dive, I have heard of school not allowing anyone with less than 20/40 dives to take a camera down as it does distract you (and I agree) but personally I haven't come across this yet. I would also, unusually, recommend doing the OW dives out there, the reason I say that is because if you do it here you will probably have to wear a dry suit or 7mm suit and diving in a 3mm in warm water is totally different. You def need to dive with little or no suit to get used to it.
The dive centre at Vilamendhoo were fantastic, two dive guides specifically, I ended up having a private dive guide on my last dive and it was my best EVER dive, he helped me learn where to place a finger for balance when pic taking, he found me loads of cool stuff, showed me how the giant clams spit out water jets (which made me laugh and flooded my mask) and how the little blue triggers pulse when they hide in the rock.
If you want a bit of resort help with where to go in the Maldives I am more than happy to help, you are welcome to PM me
