Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 8th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Congratulations Bramble
Hugs to Beth, UP, LW & anyone else in need.
Lou, are you ok?
JG, hang on in there.
It seems chilly here this morning so maybe we'll have a nice bright day.
DS & hubby got the timber yesterday & collected DD's spare washing line, the washing line is up, but hubby crushed his thumb whilst trying to collapse the old one, I got ice on it straight away & it didn't look too bad by the end of the day. I cooked DS a full English breakfast as a thankyou, hubby offered him £10 for petrol but he wouldn't accept it. My other DS spent NY skiing in France & just sent me the link to the photo's.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

It has been incredibly mild lately! Couldn't resist a dose of MSE with my tea before I go out for my long morning walk....have a good day, all.

  • Morning!

    I'm still here :D

I have been sitting forward more, and walking! Still not sure about the curry... I can't eat anything that's not plain without being sick, and I hate spicy food... so not sure a Korma would have the same effect on bringing on labour!

I can't believe tomorrow is THE day... DH believes that I am just so organised and military that the baby will come tomorrow because it was scheduled as such! HAHAHA!

Anyway, today we have Church this morning (DS is serving again... he's so cute!) and then this afternoon it's just a relaxing day... maybe another walk in the park :)

I hope everyone has a great day x

    Morning everyone,

    Congratulations Bramble.

Hugs to LW, Lou and Uolypool.

    Thinking of you Beth.

    Good luck JG.

Up early for the first netball match since Christmas, glad that I am watching not playing! Got my thermals on for standing by the side of the court cheering.

Went to the supermarket yesterday and we now have food back in again, it was the first big shop since December 21st and we were having to eat some fairly odd combinations to use everything up.

Church after netball and then on with the decluttering. Might just fit in a couple of episodes of Downton Abbey, we are now on series 2.

Tea tonight is a proper roast dinner.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning :hello:

We didn't get round to putting the shelves up yesterday, instead we chopped down two willow trees. Our garden is clay soil and in the winter it's like a marsh so we bought the trees to try and dry it out. It works a treat but we didn't realise how quickly they grew, they were 18" tall when we bought them and one of them has grown 25ft in 10 years, it was almost the height of the house :D The other one wasn't far behind. They're now about 6ft tall and look a bit pathetic, there's only the trunks left.

I can't believe how warm it was yesterday, I sat outside with a cuppa.

I have 12 boxes of eggs, hopefully I'll sell most of them today. The money will go into my emergency money box. Don't want to say too much because you never know who's reading, but I have a feeling we're going to need it in the not too distant future. There's much belt-tightening going on here at the moment :D

  • Morning all, before and after :)

I've been lurking as not really doing anything OS or even MSE! Big news is that my car's been scrapped and isn't getting replaced if I can help it but my mother's very kindly put me on her insurance so I still have wheels for the weekly shop and things like that - Sammy-cat will be visiting the vet for his annual check-up on Monday but we won't tell him, will we?!

Sundays are chill-out day for me so I shan't bother getting dressed till it's time to get ready for Church tonight. I'll do the bare essentials round the house and then curl up with my book (Tom Wright's Virtue Reborn).

Hope thumbs and babies are soon in their proper state ;)

    Morning everyone.

Going to take the kids swimming this morning, need to get back into that routine. Then my niece and nephew are coming round to play which means this afternoon will be spent tidying up :o
Tea will be roast chicken, roasties and veg for tea.
Not much OS going on, need to get some baking done.

    Hugs and spoons all round.

  • Good morning everyone.
    Bramble, congratulations :)
Uolypool, what an awful thing to happen, hugs.
JG, it would be great if baby was born on time, will be thinking of you.
Not really too sure what the weather is supposed to be here today. There is a bit of a nip in the air. It was lovely yesterday, i got three loads of washing dry.
Roast beef and all of the trimmings for dinner tonight, DH is on nights. Washing machine is on. Not too much ironing left to do. As DH is in bed and the girls tend to do their own thing, i may get my knitting out.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning all

Uolypool - Hope DS is ok

I had a lovely day yesterday. Lunch and shoppng with the girls, followd by the rugby and then we went for Thai food after the rugby :).

Today I'm off out with my date :D we are meeting at a halfway point between us and then going for a spin to West Wales for the day, should be nice :).

Tonight my schoolfriend/colleague is staying here cos we have to be up early to go to a stupid work conference in Bristol tomorrow. Have to leave at 8am and won't be back til bout 8pm :(. It's easier for her to stay here than drive in from where she lives tomorrow. So we have a girly night planned of watching DVDs and curling hair! :)

OS wise - not much :o may pack a box or two later

    Have a great day all
