Hang on if you can't even get into Safe Mode how did you check the system with antivirus and disable the startup clog?

i can access safe mode but anti virus wont run i tried to unintall but cant in safe mode

i hav just removed the windows update and still same fault so not that then

So you can try going to Start, Run and type "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW"

You may need to borrow a friends copy of XP though

ok ried that a black box flashes up on screen and hen goes within half a second

getting hold of a xp disk will be an issue everyone i know have moved with the times and gone to window 7

Was it Service Pack 3 that you installed?

If so, the restarting issue is a common problem. Read this page:

Just remembered that because its going back a bit. Yes there was an issue with SP3 and AMD CPUs.............maka does your computer have an AMD CPU?
