A fair answer, but im sure the OP stated that the machines also turned itself on when it had been turned off properly.:idea:0 -

I really cant get my head around how faulty RAM can turn a computer on, but thats computers for you

Elimination in order of expense is :
- change wireless for wired mouse & keyboard
- take out any old redundant MODEM cards
- re-seat MEM / CPU / Vid
- old BIOS revision is corrupt - reflash BIOS with new version
- pull off start / reset and use a flat blade driver
- pull the HDD completely, reset BIOD defaults, fit another HDD, reinstall O/S
- swap out the PSU for a known good one
My money is on a flakey PSU easy and [borrow one] cheap to eliminateDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. - but yes it does send the PC BootStrap mad
Easy test :
-open the case - pull both cables power and data out of the back of the CD / DVD
- just leave then there in situ, make sure they don't dangle in a fan blade
-= if thats the cause £20 gets you a brand new DVDDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. i.e. - does it instantly die (like the power had been pulled), does it power down exactly like if you went to START and SHUT DOWN, or does it goto sleep?:idea:0 -

A PC cannot log an error if it switches off. He needs to test the RAM0
