Hyundai car warranty claims

I understand that Hyundai offers a 5 year 'warranty' on its cars.
Does this warranty depend on getting it regularly expensively serviced with the Hyundai main dealer for the whole of the 5 years?
If that is the case then I would question the economics of buying one of these mediocre cars!!

No, manufacturers cannot insist on this nowadays - only advise that it is 'recommended'. From Hyundai website:
Will customers have to get their cars serviced at Hyundai dealers?
Part of the warranty conditions is that the customer has the car serviced and repaired by the standards set by Hyundai. The authorised Hyundai Dealer network is the best place to carry out such work.
It is not possible for warranty work to be carried out by a non-Hyundai Authorised Repairer. Vehicles must be serviced in accordance with specified service schedules as issued by Hyundai Motor UK Ltd and parts of an equivalent quality must be used. We recommend that Hyundai Authorised Repairers are used, as the Technicians are Hyundai trained, they have the right tools for your car and the correct knowledge. If a fault occurs as a result servicing at a non-Hyundai Authorised Repairer, this may invalidate the warranty of the failed part.
Still waiting to hear back from Hyundai re the clutch btw. I expect they are in contact with the dealer for a full report.0 -
Reading this I would say it would be difficult to make a warranty claim without a full Hyundai Service HistoryIf a fault occurs as a result servicing at a non-Hyundai Authorised Repairer, this may invalidate the warranty of the failed part.
Servicing the car yourself would seem to be a No! No!
But thanks for the info anyway..0 -
Predictable respose from Hyundai. They contacted the main dealer (who replaced the clutch at my expense) who merely confirmed that clutch had burnt out.
'Wear and tear' component, 'excluded from warranty', 'no concern with clutches in their vehicles', usual meaningless apology and no offer to meet any of my costs.
Potential Hyundai Buyer/s - beware!0 -

did they show you the bits?
i would be interested in knowing what type of cardboard they used on the driven plate0 -

No, they didn't. Dealer simply said that the clutch had 'burnt out' -something I had suspected anyway.
Hyundai have said that I could have the parts independently assessed but (i) I suspect the dealer no longer has them and (ii) if they have, there is absolutely no way now of me knowing whether they came from my car.0 -

Have you considered tasking the supplying dealer to the small claims court???

'Wear and tear' item - very difficult to prove, I'd imagine.0 -

Yes!!
Very difficult FOR THE GARAGE to prove on such a young car with very low miles.
Call Hyundai's bluff! The court will decide

Dealer & Hyundai stonewalled me - 'clutch has burnt out, there is no evidence of any manufacturing fault in either the clutch disc or pressure plate. Therefore it is down to the owner's driving style and nothing else. There is no other explanation'. This is what they will bring to and stand over in any small claims court.0
