Hyundai car warranty claims

I had to have the clutch replaced on my relatively new Hyundai after only 7k on the clock. Not covered by warranty - dealer citing 'wear and tear', 'driving style' etc as the most likely cause. Yet, I have never had to replace a clutch in any car I have owned and this is my 10th car. Also, my 'driving style' and patterns have not changed in this period.
Is this the end of the matter or has anyone pursued a similar claim and had a favourable outcome?

Maybe you can't say what dealer, i always found Sammy Mellon very good. My father in law had problems burning out the clutch as he drove with the clutch pedal depressed. They changed the 1st one ok though it was obvious why it had went. In your case, providing your not doing something similar i wouldn't have accepted that without some sort of proof on their part. Even then, no.0

This might be better placed on the motoring forum?0 -
If the failure is wear of the friction plate it won't be covered however if cause is failure of springs on the diaphram or oil contamination caused by faulty seals it will be.0

OP you didn't mention the age of the car, but I wouldn't find 7k acceptable even on a chronically bad Learner's car. Stating vehicle and mileage history to the dealer would strengthen your case. If escalating within the garage doesn't work, remind them of the Sale of Goods act - read up on it, goods should be of satisfactory quality and last a reasonable amount of time, this clutch seems to have failed on both counts. If you don't get anywhere with the dealership, goto Hyundai UK.0

Some ammunition for you in your claim against Hyundai
Clutch failure is a COMMON problem on both i10 and i20
From Honest Johns Website;
http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/hyundai/i10-2008/?section=bad
15-8-2011: Clutch failure unusually common.
21-12-2-11: Complaint that 2011 facelift automatics makes a pronounced resonance / booming / droning noise between 3,200 rpm and 3,600 rpm in any gear. 3,250 rpm equates to a true, GPS 72 mph. Other brand new automatics at the dealer do it and a Hyundai UK Technical man at Head Office has noted it on his. Pre facelifted i10s do not do it. The General manager of my Bristol Street Motors branch (who has heard the noise) is asking Hyundai to get Hyundai's Technical Field Engineer to investigate.
1-1-2012: Another report of clutch failure, this one at 25,000 miles and 18 months old.

Thanks for all that. No joy with the main dealer from whom I purchased the car, so I have written to Hyundai UK, although I anticipate their 'wear and tear' response. :mad:0 -
what year and model is it?0

Yep, you still haven't told us the AGE of the car, and unless it's old, or you've been riding the clutch for every single mile of its life, there's no way any manufacturer can call 7,000 miles wear and tear. What's the Hyundai warranty, 5 years? 7 years? How many clutches would be included in that?!0
