Train station overcrowding

There might not be byelaws to prevent photography, but there is to prevent tailgatingnewfoundglory wrote: »I tailgated an oyster card user last week, because the gate I queued to use wouldn't take a paper ticket (obviously there was one stuck in the gate) and thats what everyone else was doing.
Assuming you're talking about Clapham Junction here (the only station I know of on SWT's network to suffer immensely from overcrowding and for the gateline staff often to wander off), they have just opened a shiney new entrance, have they not? That would surely mean they're doing something to ease crowding in the subway. More of DDA improvement, granted.0 -
Why are you not naming the station?
Raise it on Twitter to @SW_Trains, twitter is very powerful, not only will it make them aware of your concerns but its public so everyone else who is following them (possibly other users of your station) will see it and can comment/retweet.0 -
South West trains have a complaint reporting link on their website. They did something about the year-old leaves at Farnborough station when I reported it to them. At Farnborough, when lots of people need to leave at once they open a gate and check tickets manually.0

When you tweet, tag @onatrainuk - it'll get noticed and they can help with the campaign (it's a social group of commuters and train users who like to complain and sometimes do so quite successfully).Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

I'm not sure revealing the station is appropriate for this forum - but i'll give you a clue - its not clapham.
For your information - tailgating is not against the bylaws - go and read them - it refers only to passing "through the barriers in the correct manner". It does not define what the correct manner might be, which would appear to be down to reasonable judgement.
Actually, there was someone checking tickets today - which happens every now and again. Presumably when they have enough staff to do this.0 -
Soooo.... you want them to do something about it, you don't want to complain to them and you don't want to take the advice to name and shame them publicy because it's not "appropriate". You want to do something that will cost them money - because obviously someone senior at the train company will know that some action you are taking in secret is because of this problem - but voting with your feet and not using them isn't the answer you want either.
Unless you want answers that could land you a fine or in the nick I'm not sure why you bothered asking?
Sneak into their train depot at night and smash up the trains. That'll learn them.0 -
Why wouldn't it be appropriate?newfoundglory wrote: »I'm not sure revealing the station is appropriate for this forum0 -
Without the name of the station, I am inclined to say...newfoundglory wrote: »I'm not sure revealing the station is appropriate for this forum...
it's all in your imagination.0 -
What a pointless thread.
If the service is that bad, don't use it. Buy a car and sit in traffic jams instead.0
