have you tried using the barclay card pre application check , to see which card you really qualify for. The check leaves no search print on your credit file

no but i rather not apply to barclays again if they rejected me once.

also what company do tesco use for credit checks?

    thanks

    cheers buddy:beer:

do you think i would be ok applying for tesco?
Tesco is a hard card to get. Think post office is too. With the missed payments being less than a year old you'll struggle to get mainstream card. If you don't actually need a card just wait another 6 months then get one

Have i got any chance of getting a proper credit card i.e. nationwide, sainsburys or amazon ?

    Thanks

Nationwide has a soft quote option. If it gives 19.9% Apr it will probably decline you. May be ok with them as the criteria says not missed 3 or more payments on any credit agreement (or something like that). As you've only missed 2 you might get that one

    I have a Experian score of 970

That means nothing, I have an Experian score of under 300, I have no bank account with Barclays, and I was accepted instantly for a Barclaycard.

I just applied for the 0% purchases platinum card and it let me go all the way through the application, said "congratulations you have been successful" and then said "but we cannot offer you 0% purchases card so have an alternative with 24.9%"
    (or someother crazy APR)
Obviously i declined their offer- but they are a bit of a joke.

If i have never had a credit card, whats the likelihood of a high street bank accepting me for a credit card, although i have a mortgage.

    thanks
