So, the two Bengals, Spot and Lula, have been cleaned, groomed and beautified (much to their disgust!) and tomorrow bright and early (or rather dark and early :rotfl:) we shall be heading off to Warwickshire to the first show of 2012 and the first time I have taken them both to a show together!
It is the Shorthair Cat Society show at Stoneleigh, so pop along if you're in the area and love cats! It will be open to the public from about 12:30-ish and only costs a pound or two admission!

What actually happens at a cat show? There's no way they trot round in circles like dogs...is there?0

Noooo
All the cats are kept in pens for the day (comfortably). They are usually entered into 4 classes - one breed class and three misc classes. The breed class is the most important for titles etc and these are judged in the morning.
So, you get your cat settled in their pen, and then all owners have to leave the hall at around 10am to ensure anonymity. Then the judges come round with a steward each and a little portable table, they get each cat out of the pen, and judge them on points such as size of ears, markings, coat, tail or whatever (depends on the breed).
They then place them accordingly and also choose Best of Breed. (Spot won that at his first show). Then all the BoBs are judged together to decide Best in Show - Adult, Neuter or Kitten (Spot won BiS kitten, too)
The misc classes in the afternoon are exactly the same, but the owners are allowed in the hall, though they must move out of the way if a judge comes to their cat.
That's it in a nutshell really.0 -
Good luck for tomorrow Fridaycat
