In spite of all your great help here - and thank you for all the suggestions - I've found a supplier of a piece of maple wood trim that bends - yes it bends. Don't ask me how as it hasn't arrived yet. It comes with instructions on how to fit and can be adapted to varying degrees of curve. I bought it through The Hardwood Flooring Studio in Sudbury who in turn got it from another supplier. I will post a picture of before and after to show you how it looks.
