I know it's possible to get stereo and 5.1 etc. from the unit via headphones/5.1 decoder etc. but I'm concerned about sound from the actual speaker in the unit.

I downloaded the manual from the zanon site which covers a 5" screen model and the 7" unit.
In the specs for the 5" model it mentions (for the monitor) "Built-in stereo loudspeakers" but for the 7" monitor it just says "Built-in speaker"

(Like you mine's in the post for delivery Monday)

The speaker on the unit is a bit tinny and you have to crank the volume up to hear it.
No probs whatsoever with headphones in

I bought one in Bournemouth branch today, seemed to be plenty there and nothing mentioned about a price change yet.

Received mine today. Great for the price as a screen on its own would cost around £70+ you do get a mains power supply, all leads to plug into TV, remote and bag.

The player has optical out, scart out and RCA out. You can use the screen to watch TV via a freeview box and also use it for a console.
What I am happy with is I just done a DVD-RW disc with four movies, one which was mpeg and one divx, one xvid and one .avi.
They all played with no problems.

There was a catalogue with the player from maplins where the player was listed at £180
  • This was a great deal and glad I got it, but a couple of questions for everyone else who managed to get hold of one of these.

How do you find the sound through the headphone socket on the screen?

There seems to be a lot of background hiss on ours. It's not too important as we can use the headphone socket on the DVD player itself which sounds fine, just a bit annoying as you can't then use the volume control on the front of the screen. The cables linking the DVD to the screen seem a bit flimsy so I wonder if that's the problem.

Also there is an option in the sound settings under Equaliser that lets you choose Rock, Pop etc. Doubt I'd use it, but setting it to anything other than Off stops the sound playing.

Other than that and 1 dead pixel, a great buy thanks.

Posted this on the closed offers thread, but reposted here as it's more likely to be seen.
