Sorry bro, but you've misinterpreted what is in the FAQs. It cannot, indeed, run from batteries, but it most certainly can from the mains - a mains adaptor is supplied to do so.

Not sure about the mains adapter being supplied.

Although the Maplin Spec. tab states AC/DC adapter, if you go to the zanon website mentioned in the FAQ the AC/DC adapter is "Optional".

The mains adapter DEFINATELY comes with the bundle. I've got mine plugged in at my workdesk watching a freeview box through the 7"tft at the mo

What sort of connection is there on the monitor?

It has 3 Male 'RCA' connectors (Video/AudioLR) - The in-built speaker is mono and only uses one channel however you get the stereo output if you plug headphones into the front jack socket.
