Primark's response to my Complaint

Hi,

Hopefully this is the right place to post this but I wanted to just report on a customer service issue that was well handled by Primark. I went to one of their stores last year to return something and had to deal with the most obnoxious person behind the till who tried her hardest to not give me a refund. The product was in good condition but she held it by its corners so it dangled and unfolded then called the manager to say 'would you give her a refund even though it looks like this?' after he agreed to the refund she then threw it on the floor and proceeded to b~tch about me to her colleague. I was totally polite so I guess she just took a disliking to my appearance or something. Anyway I emailed Primark and gave the lady the full details of the situation. I received a response - an apology and assurance that the matter is being dealt with - and a request for my address. I then received a gift voucher in the post and a further apology and assurance that the matter is now being dealt with. The last time I sent a letter of complaint (to a different company), the letter was ignored so I thought it was decent of them.

Well glad you got a decent outcome :)

But the thread itself may have been better suited to the praise/vent board ;)

Complaining does pay off though - providing its valid complaints and not just complaining for the sake of it of course

Personally I would have complaint there and then, or at the very least asked her why she is acting in the way she is -- this usually puts them on the spot. Although I do understand no everybody likes confrontation or is just in a hurry to be delayed further. Great result from your complaint, hopefully they will discipline the worker.

Oh sorry about not posting in the right place.

It was definitely a valid complaint but the problem is, I am not a particularly assertive person and I found the member of staff really intimidating. She was very aggressive and I felt a little 'helpless' in the situation so I had to find another 'avenue'. Yes I hope they deal with her!

  • A few months ago, I had to return a pair of shoes to Primark and they refunded the cost 'no questions asked'. :)

Although I don't think it's fair to generalise the workforce as rude, to generalise them as miserable seems a fair statement :)

I don't think Primark employees (or most retail employees in general) are paid enough to make them happy all the time
  • Hi, quick question. What was the email address you wrote to with regards to your complaint? I'm looking into making a formal complaint, just can't find any information on the internet.

Would appreciate it if anyone could get back to me :)

    Many thanks

    Sarah.
