But did you try uninstalling Opera and then reinstalling it?
From what I understand, this issue is caused when an upgrade doesn't quite go to plan and breaks part of Windows. Switching browsers doesn't fix it because Windows itself is broken, hence uninstalling and reinstalling the software that broke it is required to fix it.
I uninstalled it and upgraded it to the latest version. Please note that I get the same problem using IE, so I do think something has gone wrong in the registry.
Anyway I'm not going to worry about it because all it means is that I have to copy and paste links and that's hardly a problem. I'm not techie enough to fiddle anymore and as I say this is not a major thing so I'll leave it as it is.
