It does sound fishy to me, I would try popping an email to these folks :
The Institute of Promotional Marketing email complaints@theipm.org.uk
Tell them what has happened and that they have used your name on their website as a winner. They should investigate on your behalf and if by a small coincidence another winner does have the same name as you then they will let you know (i doubt that is the case myself)!
You may not still get your prize, but at least the company knows (if they are being a bit dodgy) that they just cant get away with it and the IPM will have a record of your complaint.

There seems to be alot of probs just now with "automated" entries, in that people pay a website to enter comps on their behalf and they are doing multiple entries by the thousands.
A certain other comp site is on a mission to combat this practice but there are still lots of sites not having this in their T&Cs or not using captchas to stop this practice which sadly is ruining comping for many of us.
If this site was advertised in say one of the monthly comping mags, as well as on here etc it could well have thousands of entries.

To add to my post above, I have just re-read the blog re automated entries and one site who wished to remain nameless advised they had received 23000 entries in 2 days from automated entry services!!The best things in life are free.....0

Everyone this competition ended December 2010 a year ago - not this December.
What I'm trying to say is do you think they have got confused and are referring to the winner of the competition that they have just announced (for their most recent competition)?0 -
