Hi Guys
I just wondered if there was anything I can do regarding a comp that I think I may have won.
A couple of days ago I typed my name into google and came up with this page here. The winner of the decmber Christmas competition states my name. Now I know that my surname isn't the most popular name and when I usually do a google search of my full name, I never have to filter the results because of it being rather unusual.
So... I had a look on the mse comps board for the competition and checked my 'thanks/entered' which showed I had actually entered that competition. I then emailed the company and asked them if infact I was the winner as my name had been listed on their site. They told me that they had had over 100,000 entries  for that competition and the winner had been notified and the prize sent. They also said that they would double check this to verify.
I waited for the company to email me back and let me know either way but over 24 hours had passed with no other email. I then emailed them again asking if they'd had the chance to double check for me and also included my address as I thought it would have made it easier to check were the prize was sent.
Not long after, they replied and said "Yes we checked, the prize went to the right person, we wish you better luck next time".
So my question is, is there anything else that I can do to somehow prove that it wasn't actually me that had won?
There's just something with this, that doesn't quite ring true, what with my unusual name (I can't imagine anyone else with the exact same name entering that very same competition). Also I don't know if i'd be correct on this but doesn't 100,000 entries for a single competition (of a website that I'm pretty sure isn't the most popular) a little bit unbelieveable?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice and sorry it was so long

well, for a start 100,000 is way too much, that seems well unrealistic.
you dont get the figures very often, but for example the just milk baking kit (bbc good food i guess it was), had in their winner email that they had over 6,000 entries. also, they said on itv once within the program, that one of their australia competitions had over 35,000.
quite often in the comp t&cs they state that the winners details are available upon request, postal. maybe try this? were the t&cs in the comp post, cus they seem gone now on the page?
good luck!0 -
Thanks bcd2009, I did think that 100,000 entries seemed a lot! I have had a look at the thread that I entered from which is this one here but there weren't any T&C's posted on the thread and I can't see any on the website now either
I guess I could have someone email them to ask for the winners name and location?Huge thank you to all posters on the comps board!

I find it even odder that they only have 80 likes on their facebook page yet 100,000 entered the comp! I have asked them on their wall if they are going to announce the winners on there?2012

Just backed you on that, although they haven't posted since 14/12 so it doesn't look like they use FB regularly.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams
