Just another money making racket - why are airlines making travelling such a hassle? An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -

'Overweight' bags need to people to carry them - hence the extra handling charge, but if you spread the weight over more bags, yopu don't get stung the same way - as the checkin person kindly told you.
You're right about the weight of the single item, these bags were around 60lb (27Kilos) she told us that they take bags up to 70lb (32 kilos) but if they are over 50lb (23 kilos) they charge $50. That was United Airlines.0 -
So, if according to their website, this will be introduced from the 13th February, what happens to passengers who have already travelled and are currently abroad with their extra bags?
My mother flew out last week to India, and took two bags as she finds it easier to carry two smaller lighter bags rather than one heavier large bag. The combined weight is much less than 23kg.
She is due to fly back at the end of February. So when she attempts to check in two bags on the return trip (the same bags she flew out with), she is going to be asked for £240? This will be the first she knows about it I am sure.
Its all very well BA saying the change has been on the internet since June. My mother brought the ticket over the phone before then and does not have the internet.0 -

Provided your mother hasn't bought too many souvenirs she should be ok, according to the BA press release:
"British Airways has absolutely no intention of discriminating against passengers who cannot comfortably carry a 23kg bag. Where it is clear that a passenger cannot manage one bag, we will let them check in an additional bag (or more) provided the total weight is within the 23 kg limit."0 -

So what is it that im confused with?
It used to be 32kg and 2 bags?
What is it now? 23kg?
I am flying to Miami in June 1st? I dont understand?
This is the BA press release:
http://www.britishairways.com/travel/flightops/public/en_gb?p_faqid=2515
And here's a link to the BA webpage that gives a bit more detailed info:
http://www.britishairways.com/travel/bgpolicy/public/en_gb
This says that the policy for USA is now:
"*World Traveller customers travelling / connecting to or from the US, Canada, Caribbean, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico will continue to be allowed two checked bags in line with the local government regulations.
^To allow our customers to become familiar with our new baggage policy and weight limitations, we will continue to accept bags at check-in weighing up to 32kgs for travel completed by 30 September 2007."
So, looks like you can have 2 bags each up to 32kgs provided you're flying back to the UK before the end of Sept.0
