Greyhound Gap are brilliant, I think that's a good decision. You never know, a foster home might become available later on if it gets too much for your sister.
  • Has she tried Lurcher Link or GRWE? They are both sightound rescues,I got my own staffy/grey cross from GRWE.
Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!

Complain to the council about that dog warden! Its their legal responsibility to deal with stray dogs they can't just fob you off like that!

I'm sorry but the dog really must be registered as a stray with the local authority before you try and rehome her.

If she was found a couple of weeks ago then the dog warden may 'think' you were trying to get rid of your own unwanted dog, but it's only 5 days since she was found!

There could be an owner out ther going demented looking for her (see poor Sassybums thread!), lurchers drop weight really quickly and can look awful if out on the streets just for a couple of days. Please insist the Dog Warden registers her so that an owner has the chance of tracing her if they ever get in touch.

Just because she is registered it doesn't mean you need to hand her over to the DW or local authority, you can elect to keep her (or your sister can) and rehome her as you see fit. If a rescue takes her on they should really ask for her lost dog register reference number or they could be leaving themselves open for taking on a stolen dog.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
