Stray found - best way to rehome???

Greyhound trust only take pure greyhounds. Phoned greyhound gap but they are full, they will advertise her on their website for rehoming but my sister has to have her spayed and injections upto date.
My sister did call the dog warden they were not interested and told her to call the RSPCA (she knows this will probably mean the dog is put down if the RSPCA take her).
She is going to contact animal lifeline so fingers crossed.0 -

Indeed, I'm assuming for some reason that this dog has done its 7 days as the OP's sister wasn't the finder. If it hasn't though she does need to contact the dog warden and remind them of their legal responsibility!0 -

Have you tried lurcher link?0

Hi all
no dog warden not interested at all just told her to call RSPCA (so that route will just end with her being destroyed). (she was found 5 days ago in the road).
All avenues we have tried are just too full and have no space. What hasn't helped is she has now come into season today (at least she isnt pregnant) but my sister has 3 boy dogs. I think my sister will end up paying for her to be spayed and then advertise her with greyhound gap to find her forever home. Luckily she can afford to pay her keep and the vet bills otherwise I think the poor mite would be destroyed.0 -
Complain to the council about that dog warden! Its their legal responsibility to deal with stray dogs they can't just fob you off like that!0

Sorry if i've missed it but have you had the vet scan her to see if she's chipped?
I found an injured greyhound a couple of months ago, he was cut and miserable, I thought he'd been booted out but when we found his owners they were over the moon.
Also I'd agree that the dog warden IS responsible for stray dogs. For gawd's sake. Surely that's more important than fouling, what are they doing if they aren't taking in strays?0 -
Did you contact Animal Lifeline? I have posted their email somewhere here.
Pls do not try direct rehoming yourself, Animal Lifeline may be able to secure a good rescue space for the dog and rehome it from there.0 -
Hi all no she is not going to try and rehome herself. My sister is going to have her spayed and her injections done and then greyhound gap said they would put her on their website and find her a suitable owner.
I did give her the number for animal lifeline she was calling them after greyhound gap, I am assuming they couldn't help either or she would have said. I think the proble is everywhere is absolutely packed from all the poor mites who have been abandoned over the holidays. My sister is happy to keep her for the mo, but wants to find her a forever home.0
