Once you drop down to £12.12 a month your paying a year ahead, so you'll be paying for your 2013 one

so if I cancel the TV License, should I get a refund or I am entitled to watch the TV until the end of 2012?

If you pay monthly - you never pay a year ahead. After the lead in period to the 1st license you pay 6 months in arrears and then 6 months ahead. The licence arrives in the middle. So - you're in arrears until March 2012

May not be completely relevant, but I think my TV licence is the best value entertainment that I have. Everything that the BBC does for £145.50 a year is amazing. I think we are very fortunate to have such a high quality public service broadcaster (sorry, sound like an employee, but I'm not, just a fan!)

I asked in a post above, please can someone tell me what all this is about?

"As soon as you agree to speak to them, they then create case file on you and your property, this is then how they obtain search warrants from the police. "

Can they really do this and why would they if you have honestly declared that you are not using a tv to watch live tv. What happens if they find a tv or other device capable of watching it on, but not in use?

That would worry me enough to just pay up anyway, even though I don't/can't watch live tv.

Also, sorry, as the licence fee only goes to the BBC, why aren't you allowed to watch other stations live anyway?

Not true. Channel 4 get some & some is used to pay for the upgrade of transmitters for the digital switchover

I agree with you. I find good quality entertainment particularly on the BBC channels and ITV. I'm much less into the other channels.
Most evenings I find something to watch though I don't go in for watching for hours on end.

According the TV License site my license expires on 30 September 2012. Is this license already paid or I am paying monthly for it?
