Thanks DIA..your menus are not too shabby either
Quiet few days trying hard to spend thoughtfully...but money still flowing out the door. 3 of us had haircuts this week. The eldest is getting a new bike, although to be fair it's a small price to pay compared to a bus pass and keeps her independent and we have had holiday costs to pay eg. car hire and tax to airport. It all adds up doesn't it? On the plus side, have had a frugal anniversary and birthday for OH - flowers chocs and cava for £16.99 and a HM card; and a night away in a hotel with free babysitting from MIL in the Autumn. £93 for a flexible rate for his birthday in case he's not able to be here on date I originally choseIt's a hotel we really like so pleased about that and he appreciated the gesture. As he didn't buy me anything for an anniversary
(am not surprised!
) a cheap few days
Girls made him a big chocolate cake.
Not a great week FL wise. Seem to have been hugely distracted by my kids being off school and ill on one day. But do need to be more disciplined. It's our main source of income after all.
Think I may have mentioned but have decided to take van off formal hire and do some hires ourselves or loan to friends for a small donation. Just feel we need more control over the situation so have struck out for ourselves. Time will tell if it's the right decision.
I don't think I have mentioned but a dear friend is getting married in the far south in about 18 months time, and we need a huge push to save enough...it's at the most expensive time to travel to Oz as well... Well best put my big girls pants on then and get working towards the savings. We had thought of going to see them soon anyway..this just means we HAVE to go at a particular time. Girls won't hear of not going as she and her partner are too important to them.
Off to a festival this weekend which will be fab. Hope weather holds. Have saved up for it so that's good.
And I really mustn't grumble. We have a fully stocked house...brim full of paying guests(I am almost a proper landlady like MfD;)) and I am having a cheeky beer whilst OH plays a video game on the new XBox. Life could be much much worse!

Do you like Muriel Spark? Have you read her novel 'A far cry from Kensington' it's about a house full of paying guests and it's one of my favourite books. I think a bike for your daughter is an investment in her health too. And, oh, you must go to the wedding too.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

My husband still doesn't know our anniversary date after 28 years. The only reason he now knows my birthday is because I made it the debit card PIN number.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I can never remember the date of our wedding its either the 6th 7th or 8th of August. I think its because we always use to be on holiday........I used to try and get signs from my OH so I didnt look as if I had totally forgotten as he always remembered.....now he forgets too:rotfl::o:rotfl:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
