Wow I never saw myself as an inspiration to others but thank you :@). I know how you feel about the spending - it's what got hubby and I into trouble. Personally I can't spend now as I don't have any money to spend. If I did though I would definitely try and work with someone like a friend or relative to stop me spending when I was really low - is this something you can try?
Suffers of depression will know that you can't just 'pull yourself together'. However, each morning I have a stern talking to myself. It's not easy living with depression, being homeless and in hideous debt but I'm taking baby steps each day in the hope that by the end of the year my hubby and I will know where we are going with our lives, be living somewhere permanently and be well on our way to tackling our debts.
My major goal for next week is to chase up the council about our homeless application, make an appointment with Shelter and the CAB. In between I need to make sure I get out of bed, have a shower and breath! Anything else I achieve is a bonus.
Well I've gotta go and iron the boy's school uniform now so bye for now x0 -
If you can do it, i can do it. I find its difficult as my partner works abroad, and i can easily hide purchases as i live alone. And I tend to find my deppression is kicked off by having a limited income and so then i spend and its a massive cuircle till i reach rock bottom.
I must say my situation is not as extream. and i hope you pull throughHELP !!!!
September 2013 NSD - 10 and 3 in a row. No offical debt but:Owe Fiance £9560

Up until a few weeks ago I didn't believe we could pull through all of this but now I'm certain we can thanks to the help from this site. I'm gonna try some of things you are trying like more NSDs etc. As someone said to me here, Martin has never come across a situation that there hasnt been a solution found for - so lets blooming hope so!!
One hit wonder - you can do this
Off to have my roast lamb now - yum yum.....bye for now x0 -
Dear diary
Hello Monday morning!
Well the weekend was a really low spend one. I spent £5 on Saturday, Hubby spent £10 and we both spent nothing yesterday. We had a very productive day yesterday too - I did some much needed sewing repairs to clothes that I'd been putting off for ages, did some washing and ironing, hovering, cleared out my car which was full of bags and rubbish and hubby cleaned the fish tank. I'm thinking of joining the Flylady thread but don't want to take on too much. Think I will just lurk instead!
I'm in limbo this morning waiting for 9am to come around so I can ring the council. I really need to know whether they are going to home us or not? Without clear direction on the housing front I feel I cant move on properly :@(. Think I will go make a cuppa tea to waste some time!
Back in a mo - bye for now x0 -
Dear diary
Well I woke up in a good mood this morning but it didn't last long. My positive task today was to talk to 'Shelter' for housing advice. It took 9 hours of constantly trying their number till i finally got through at 7pm tonight. What a wasted day till then!
I have to say though that it was a very good phone call which has armed me with a list of tools to use on the council tomorrow - so watch out council!
All in all a less than positive day and I wasn't quite myself - let's hope tomorrow is a better day.
Bye for now0 -
Dear diary
Not a good start again - I hope my positivity returns soon as I'm missing it! I usually get up with hubby and the kids in the morning but today I didn't get out of bed when they left. Instead I rolled over and went back to sleep. I woke up at midday - eek!
I want to expand on what I achieved yesterday other than spending all day ringing 'Shelter'. I made a call to an action group for families in need of help. I have an appointment to meet a lady on Thursday to see if they can help at all (fingers crossed). I did some cleaning and stuck to my meal plan - had beef stroganoff which was scrummy.
Today I rang the council and actually got through to my appointed housing office, what a miracle! She promised to have a decision tomorrow on whether the council will or won't assist us. After speaking to Shelter yesterday I am expecting the council to 'not' help us as they will hide behind the 'deliberately homeless' part of the eligibility. I am prepared to fight and appeal now that I am 'informed'.
So Tuesday and Thursday afternoon/evenings are mad due to Cubs and Scouts. They used to be straightforward as the scout hut was a five min drive before our eviction. Now its a two hour journey! (an hour there and back to take the boys and an hour there and back to collect them). Thank god this is only gonna be temporarily. I have to be organised with food so on my meal planner today we are having sausage and mash which will be nice and easy.
Oh well I'd better get myself ready to go pick up the kids.
Bye for now x0 -
Hi ds2012.
Just been reading and you are doing sooo well and sounding sooo positive!
Just a little thought regarding Scout and Cub nights..... is there anything you can do in the area near their groups to save you having to make double the journies each night? Are there any people in that area you would like to catch up with? Is there anywhere you could sit and have a cuppa and wait for them? (sorry, not sure how long these groups are for!) Even a small spend must be cheaper than an extra 2 hours driving.
Wishing you all the best, Nats xstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -
Just like to say well done on tackling everything!!

Thanks for your support.
Cubs is 6.30 to 8.00 and scouts is 7.00 to 9.00. Problem is that hubby isnt back from work till bout 7.30 so I have to take the other child with me which is fine for the eldest but not the youngest as it means not getting home till 9.30/10.00 ish (far too late for an 8 yr old on a school night). At the mo, I do the taking and hubby does the collecting when he can. Not sure where we will be living next week but will definitely need to make savings where we can so will bear your suggestion in mind.
Off to do the Cub run!!0 -
