ps, why not ask them for a % of the savings you make for them?

  • If you ever use one of these holiday broker websites to find hotels, then they would get a commission on the click you make to the hotel/flight link and you wouldn't even know about it.

Quidco are just another type of broker (I guess) but the commission they earn is passed onto you rather than them keeping it.

Don't see the difference personally

Well i would like to thank everyone for the input and hopefully you should all now have a thankyou on your posts from me :)

It probably goes without saying that i had my own reservations about cashback through quidco or i wouldnt have felt the need to post in the first place, and after taking everyones views on board, i have decided that opening a another quidco account for *business* purchases is the way to go, i can then let the company decide what they want to do with the cashback it accumulates !

*would be nice if i could have it though lol !!*

    thats fab :T

should be a nice night out for everyone at work, or perhaps it could be split and put in with christmas bonusus. either way, glad you went for that option :)

My view is go through Quidco for an account for the staff kitty. New fridge, drinks machine, etc. In most companies you are more likely to raise your general level of happiness by doing this, than by just pocketing the money for yourself.

No tax issues, no ethical issues, no problems with the management...

You seem to be making the right choice, and I can't see it damaging other users of Quidco either. All round good solution.

Ethical dilemmas are always hard, that is why they are dilemmas. One of the guiding ideas is to ask yourself is : It you were the boss and an employee of yours did this, what would you feel/think? That usually helps you towards an answer.
Like others, I think it would be wise to seek permission, maybe putting it over as a suggestion that you would like the opportunity to explore this as a potential way to either save/make money for the company. Suggest that you trial it for 6 months and any profit you make in this time is used to treat the employees, (that way you will cause no animosity with co workers), After that time it can be reviewed. You might find this funding some fun activites which will be good for company morale with no extra cost to the company itself. Sounds like a win win situation.

Look at it this way if you travelled by car would you turn down nectar petrol points or BP points? dont think so...

I'd say one think, only unethical if the cost of the flight was more expensive and you were only using them because you got quidco, if the same price go for it....

Some companoes have rules for collecting petrol points, but most just assume it's done and see it as a freebie
