Quidco - would this be unethical ?

I have to book an awful lot of rather expensive hotels and flights at the company i work for - would it be really unethical for me to go through quidco to book them ?

Today alone i booked two flights for £489 each and two hotel rooms at £110 per room, im sort of thinking providing its no more expensive would it really be so bad ??

No more unethical than putting "company" petrol in your company car to use on company business paid for on a company credit/fuel card and taking a "free" pen/torch/toolkit/green shield stamps (if you remember them)/etc for yourself

I would def go via Quidco, Its about time you got some benefits from your work. If you book it and organize it all then you take a cut

If your company spend that sort of dosh on travel and you have responsibility, you ought to be able to cut some good corporate deals with the hotels at least. If you do that over a period of time, and can then show your company what you've done on your own initiative to save their budget you ought (I emphasise "ought") to get better rewarded in your career than a miserly few quid from quidco. If your company don't recognise that sort of initiative - time to find a new employer!

As a more general point, sadly, MSE is not really the sort of place to discuss ethics, thanks to some of the "community"...
  • If the company is going buy the tickets anyway via that travel agent then no it's not because it's not costing them anymore than if you didn't use quid co.

But, if you use a travel agent via QuidCo which is more expensive than the one you usually use just to get the commission - then yes - I'd argue it is!

(NB: Generally the cheapest place to buy travel is from the supplier direct - i.e. https://www.hilton.co.uk for hilton hotels, https://www.BA.com for British Airways flight etc..etc..)
