My plan's still a work in progress at the moment so the following may well change, but I've been thinking about it during my lunch break and want to make notes so I don't forget where I've go to:

Friday - bacon, mushroom and blue cheese pizza
Saturday - macaroni cheese with bacon and mushrooms
Sunday - chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and pesto, with potato wedges and roast tomatoes
Monday - bacon, tomato and bean casserole
    Tuesday - veg chilli-stuffed squash
Wednesday - meatloaf (new recipe - if I can find the nice recipe another forumite showed me a while ago) with potato and celeriac dauphinoise and cabbage
Thursday - cheese and onion crispbakes with whatever veg is in my veg box

[STRIKE]I'll come back and fill in the gaps later![/STRIKE]

JG - best wishes to you, Baby Roo (when he / she makes an appearance) and the rest of your family.
Back after a very long break!

  • I'm new to this meal planning and not finding it very easy at the moment. I'm stuck for ideas and how to plan ahead. I have just bought a new slow cooker as my old one died so am into using this at the moment but only thing I've ever been successful at cooking in it is stew. Can anyone give me some inspiration for my slow cooker and help with planning!

I also have a little baby so freezer food very handy!

    Monday pork stir fry
    Tuesday lamb burgers
    Wednesday chili on Carne
Thursday dh away so either dhal or beans on toast
    Friday ratatouille

Dh is always hungry but also wants to lose weight so making soup to fill him up. Likely to be lentil soup, mushroom soup and spicy sweetpoatato soup. Freezer so full need to make some room so can freeze some batches of soup. Lunches likely to be soup or beans on toast for me. Dh packed lunch so tuna pasta salad, bagels and cupasoup. Breakfast is toast and cereal with eggs for dh and porridge for me.

I have a table on my spreadsheet with 6 columns (Beef, Chicken, Pork, Fish, Vegertarian & other). Whenever I cook a meal I put it in this table... over the course of time you build it up with meals you enjoy and then when it comes to meal planning you just pick and choose something from the columns (I try to not pick two from the same column in the same week)!

To get you started have a look at the Grocery Challange thread, in the first page there is a list of loads of recipies... get an idea from there of things you like :)

You kind of just pick and choose what you fancy! I always fancy so much I do 4 weeks at a time, takes about 20 minutes!

Ref. Slowcooker. I do beef and chicken stews, Curry, liver& bacon and brisket in mine... that's it for me! However my Pressure Cooker is the one I use... I make anything that can be cooked on a hob!

    Good Luck x
