  • Hi firstly thanks for the offer to help, my problem is as from next week I will be unemployed after being made redundant, I am currently 25 weeks pregnant so won't be seeking a new job yet, I am not sure yet If I'll be entitled to any benefits to help me through my maternity leave but my question is will I get any extra tax credits, at the moment we get £40 per month on child tax credit, when I use there online calculator it's just the same as I have to put my income in from the year before, is this correct?

    thanks in advance

  • HELP! Hi there, hope you can explain....... Last year total income £36000 2 adults both working no children. In May last year oh was made redundant, applied for wtc and was awarded amount based on my last years income of £7800 with no income for my oh (I did tell them he was claiming jsa but it hadn't been awarded at that point)I phoned to say hubby had got a temp job (6wks) and got new award still based on my income. Now (Feb) he has got a new job so I phoned to tell them, and today, have received notice of overpayment of the full amount we have received as his total income is expected to be around £15000, my question is, is this correct? It doesn't seem fair we were genuinely entitled to the amount but now they want it back! It seems I should have had a crystal ball and known what he was to earn! What about the so called 25k income disregard. Wish I'd never bothered with wtc now, although it has helped us to keep our head above water these past few months, it will now cripple us! We don't have £2200.

I'm married no kids, my wife doesn't work, I work 40 odd hours a week. Am i entitled to working tax credits?

  • Hi first post....i'm a single parent with 2 kids aged 9 and 8. I work 36 hours a week, and claim both child tax credit and working tax credits. As part of my wftc i claim £90 per week child care.

Next week im having an operation, and will be unable to work or drive etc for at least 6 weeks. My company doesn't pay sick pay, although i should get ssp which is roughly £70 per week.

My kids are looked after by two childminders, and one is expecting me to pay her the full rate, and the other half the normal amount, or if not i'll lose the places (which are few and far between in my area)

I know i have to let the tax credit peeps know, my childcare costs will go down. Does anybody have any advice as to wether i'd be entitled to any additional financial support? I don't recieve any financial assistance from their dad.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers Cath

  • Hi there,
My partner is working 40 hours a week in a new job at £17k per annumm. We have a 3 year old daughter that does not start school until sept 09 and i really want to go to work pt in the evenings so that i can help contribute towards the bills etc. If i got a job that was 11 hours a week on national minimum wage would this effect our working tax credits and child tax credits alot?

Has anyone got any advice for me. I repaid an overpayment and now it turns out HMRC have taken over £400 too much back (failed to take into account future awards0. Have spent hours on the phone and finally found someone who could see this money on the system. That is all well and good but they are unable to tell me when I will be paid this money, all they can say is there is a backlog.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so got any advice for how I get this money back. I first spoken to the in Nov07 and tried again a month later in Dec07 about to try once more but need to find a whole afternoon free. I will then write to complaints dept

Have got my mp involved. but not heard back yet (spoke to his office in early Dec)

It annoys me when I have paid back what I was asked and now typically can't get the same courtesy from them

    thanks in advance
