Sorry to be THAT guy, but... are you sure she hasn't just taken out a payday loan, missed payments, and panicked? All sounds very fishy to me.

It's ok I thought it was very suspicious to begin with to. That was until I saw the guy bragging about the "scam" to lure others in on Facebook.

Was it a starnger she gave the details to, or someone she already knew?

She is incredibly gullible, but not guilty of fraud. She may be considered negligent as it's plain as day that this guy was up to no good but he has at the end of the day committed the offence.

    YES! SHE IS!

You need to take a step back here and think about it.

She gave her account details and personal pin number to a third party on the "promise of easy cash" - Your very own words. It is expressly against the terms of a card to divulge your pin number for your own protection. She did it because she thought she could scam some easy money and it's not a lot different then receiving stolen goods and then pleading innocence because you didn't actually steal them yourself.

She ought to consider herself lucky if she gets away with losing the money and not be investigated for her actions.

I know it's not what you want to hear.

It was a "friend of a friend" or something similar.

Pay it off, make sure the bank details are all changed and put it down to experience. Taking it further will cause your daughter a lot more damage in the long term. It does appear she was a willing party to fraud.

I presume that the 'friend' is no longer a friend ...
On the other hand, can they not help track this person down, if it's their friend??

she would also have had to supply the 'conman' with her sort code and account number to enable the loan company to deposit the funds....
This would be on the debit card.
u also said it was all done with her details so therefore she supplied the 'conman' with all her personal details, dob, work history etc.....
All probably available to a friend of a friend on Facebook.

Can the mutual friend not do anything about it? If one of my friends ripped off another of my friends I wouldn't just sit there and do nothing.
