    E-on have it as heatwise but it is not a normally published tariff as it was initially only available in east anglia/east midlands however I believe (but not sure) that n power offer it as economy 10

    Further Heatwise is a two tier tariff peak and off peak (off peak hrs 1300-1600, 2000-2200 and 0200-0700)

    Re reading your post #10 it appears that if your sisters AGA is this mode 4-Oven (night storage)

    http://www.agaliving.com/our-products/classic-aga-cookers/4-oven-(night-storage).aspx

    then it it is designed to takes full advantage of off-peak electricity, storing it through the night in specially designed heat bricks located deep inside the cooker as it states.

    If this is the case then its storage bricks should be directly and solely wired into the off peak supply . You say correctly that need to know why the AGA is clocking up some full-rate units at night as well as cheap-rate units.

    However I am not in any way a AGA specialist but I can hazard a guess that the cooker might need a constant electric supply for say oven lights or hob etc . If so may be the initial installation has been incorrectly carried out with supplies mixed.

    ~~~snip~~~~
    I'm sure now you are as I suspected on E10 not E7, you have a 30amp cooker, bring that into the equation !
    It was an intended O/T conversation with HappyMJ, not my intention to confuse the situation Brian99, its your thread, my apologies.
    Now that you have put~me~right - Richie-from-the-Boro exits stage door left .. .. carry on folks :D
    John , I see, you have three offpeak periods; but just one offpeak rate, so two tiers.
    The AGA is not as big as that, but the same idea. Supposed to be using just off peak juice.
    It's definitely Economy 7, cheap juice only comes at night, not afternoon.
    Off out now, cheers. Thanks for many useful comments :)
  • 1 meter exclusive to E7, the other meter [ assumption ] a two rate. Brian99 has stated the two rate meter continues to count after cheap rate is applied, but has not yet answered the fundamental question asked in an earlier # about the tariff and charging. It could well be that the account has two meters / 4 readings / and the leccy company :
    'aggregates' the day/night rate on the other two rate meter, in other words it continues to count .. .. but night rate charges are applied as per the tariff .. .. not as Brian99 thinks is the case that its charging full day rate over the full 24 hour cycle.
    Richie you're always trying to rephrase what I said, without even reading it properly.
    Both meters have two registers, Normal and Low as i said BEFORE.
    The account is economy 7 and always was. The bill is not paid by me, it is BIG, and asking to see it would be nosey.
    Go exit left. LOL
    I will phone EON, when I have clarified what questions to ask.
    Hi Brian99
    Don't want to confuse things but just seen this thread and thought I'd jump on with a bit of info that might help.
    Your sister could have what's known as Restricted Hour Tariff (RHT) meters. These are generally two meter set ups.
    RHT meters provide electricity at a cheaper rate at certain times during every 24 hour period for things such as storage heaters or under floor heating.
    Customers with these set ups usually have two meters using a time switch to switch between the two.
    One meter records normal usage; whilst the second is for off peak usage for storage heaters, water heating etc.
    These meters will be set up on a specific tariff with lower rates for usage going through the meter recording heating/water heating.
    Not saying this is what your sister has Brian but just a thought.
    Best thing is to call one of our specialist metering teams and ask them to go through the set up with you. They'll also be able to give you the relevant switching times.
    Hope this is of some use but please ignore if I'm barking up the wrong tree.
    Thank you Malc for your contribution :)
    There are definitely two meters; and EACH meter has registers for "Rate 1" and "Rate 4".
    I am assuming that Rate 1 is the same Normal rate for both meters; and Rate 4 is same Low rate for both.
    If the above is true, some strange readings have made me wonder which night hours are truly cheaper, and whether switching is correct.
    Thanks for your input; I'll phone the EON meter chaps.
