My son in law is currently on the work program through his local JobCentre, (he is a rare one who actually looks for work) anyway he had his 3rd appointment this morning with Avanta he attended the first one, on the second one his advisor phoned in sick although they waited for him to arrive to tell him, He was always on time polite and well dressed the woman who is supposed to 'advise' him told him that she did not care whether he was ill his wife was ill or his 2 kids are ill, if he doesnt attend 'she' will stop his Jobseekers allowance. His 2 kids are 3 month and 3 he was shocked at this and told her that if his kids are ill he will ring but will not attend, She said she doesnt care if they are in hospital all it takes is a phone call from her and his money will be sanctioned. He attended every time he was supposed to and as i say is activley seeking employment Can she seriously threaten him or should he speak to the JobCentre about her, The manager 'wasnt in today or the rest of this week' and when he asked her for his name he was told the manager doesnt deal with 'people like him'

That is shocking. I would go back and demand to know her name, then complain. Her attitude is disgusting - I would be fuming.0

I was shocked when he told me, he knows her name but not the managers & he does not want to risk his JSA claim due to her threat.0

Ahhh another prime example of JOB CENTRE SCUM!

Was his children ill? Was his wife (your daughter) ill? Have I missed soemthing, was there a hypothetical argument going on?
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -

Sorry am confused as to how this came up in the first place.
Could he have talked about the cancellation of the 2nd appointment in a less than tactful way which has lead to a less than tactful response? I agree what she has said is wrong but just wondering if there was some provacation at play here.
Also would have thought illness of wife or children would not automatically mean he could not attend anyway. It would depend on exactly who was ill, how ill, whether wife is on maternity leave (guessing probably with a 3 month old) etc.

It was just said to him, the second appointment that his advisor called in sick for he wasnt bothered about made no odds to him. All he said was 3 month old is due an operation in the next few weeks any father worth his salt is not going to attend a work program for 20 minutes instead of be beside his wife whilst his youngest son is in theatre.
Or am i wrong?0 -

You find that it is other way round, Most Jobseekers are actually do want a job.. Don't believe what is printed in the Daily Mail.
The unemployed are a easy target, For the press and the fools in the house who are out to make a name for themselves.
As for your son-in-law treat him to a late Christmas present of USB Memory Stick Digital covert voice recorder. It cost around £14 and when he goes to his next appointment, Wear it round his neck, and record the meeting. Therefore providing proof of her attitude.
I know a number of people who have the same sort of problem with these bully's. In everycase all now covertly record every meeting they have with the 'slave' program.0 -
