Have spoken to Citizens Advice, and they have told me that as SCS are NOT a member of the Furniture Ombudsman scheme, my recourse would be to a small claims court under the Sale of Goods Act.

It all hinges now on whether they can get a matching colour to make the repair. If they can't, as far as I understand it, I can ask for a replacement couch or a substantial refund. I've been promised a call from SCS on Thursday 14th Feb. Let's see if they keep their promise.

Well finally got a reply to my letter, well I say reply with a big smirk on my face.

I got a ton of photos taken by the upholsterer. These don't really portray the problem, which has got worse since the photos were taken over two months ago. The content of the letter was the same I had received before. I am giving up on SCS and am now looking at complaining to the finance company because we just want rid of the sofa and to start our search again. Any advice on complaining to the finance company?

hi mate just wanted to fined out what the name of the sofa you got was and if you can fined the manufacturer.

we had the same problem a year ago and it was a long wast of time to be honest.
at the end of it we got in touch with the manufacturing company
and they had informed us in writing that they give a year stretcher guarantee with every sofa and the sofa range we had it should not of gone flat the way it had.
we had contacted the sofa company and at the end of it all we got told we can get a repayment.
also if you are after a good strong build Sofa have a look at this company they are a online company that sells top of the range sofas at cut prices
this is were i got mine and is still running strong
    have a look

  • ordered a leather sofa from scs last march 2014 the cost of which was £1304.00,paid by visa from uddingston, staff couldn't have been nice enough till deal was done....then the problems started, after being delivered after 16 weeks the 3 seater sofa witch was split in two ran from an overhang to a resses on the front seating .when the back upright coushin was removed from the chair there was a one and a half inch hole at one side which flung the seating out this was all due to the frame work being built wrong on both units.complained 15 minutes of it being delivered so they sent an upholsterer out to laugh and tell me that what scs thought of what was acceptabale was entirely different from what the customer thought was acceptable.after scs looking at what photos the upholsterer had took they wanted nothing more to do with the situation the manufacturer was amx ltd...so heres what to do when scs think there above the law.1}read them the riot act..2}get in touch with your bank and credit card company(they will fight your case its part of your banks job to do this)..3}get in touch with trading standards..4}if all else fails get a private ombudsman, this will set you back £150 which will be reimbursed when the faults are pointed out.
yesterday 10/03/15 a replacement was delivered still a couple of minor faults which to me are acceptabile,i do not want anything more to do with scs for how rude they have been about the whole situation.
as for the people who are giving scs praise for the staff,it is not the staff which you are purchasing.hope this helps people who have issuses with these idiots scs.
