Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
I think i'm going to be pitching for £200...
That's fine if you can justify it.
Can you demonstrate that you have lost £100 for the full day and £50 for the two half days?

In that article you linked to earlier, you will see that you are entitled to no compensation for 'the aborted first delivery'.
You were planning to take that time off anyway.
  • Your problem sounds typical of fiber only seat fillings they flatten and loose shape very quickly but to be fair some people prefer them.

I have come up with a cheap answer to this problem before by inserting a 3" deep piece of foam that is rounded off at the front edge only (think of a quarter of a circle) put this under the fiber seat cushion but inside the cover with the semi circle at the bottom edge. Hope you can follow that!

What this does is lift the whole inner and give it some body (why they don't just use a fiber foam inner mix I don't know) we have used them for years and they are much better than a straight fiber only filling at not that much more cost.

As this is removable if you do get another visit you can just take it out.
By the way it does take some work to get the piece of foam into the correct position but just keep at it.

    Good luck

I'm not including the first aborted delivery in my claim, i'm talking about the time taken off since then and for the next upholsterer visit (they only give a 2 hour window). That means 3 half days holiday + 5 months with a saggy cushion that looks hideous. I've got 'Margaret' ringing me on Thursday from aftercare, apparently to talk about escalating this, so we'll see how I get on with my claim. They've already offered a refund of delivery cost, which i've rejected as inadequate. If they'd got it right at the second attempt, I wouldn't be talking of claiming anything (an honest mistake). To do it twice though is incompetent.

The thing is, I paid extra to not have fiber only seat fillings. If they can't provide what I paid extra for, the claim will then go on to include that refund too (another £100, so £300 in total).

    3 x half days off work (£150)
Refund of extra amount paid (£100)
    £50 compensation

    171 days on, and counting

    Thanks Kate,

I've sent you the details on the Facebook page

    Regards,

Edit : I've just had a further call from Customer Care about the details on Facebook, but it wasn't anything to do with escalation of this complaint, which is actually what I want to speak to someone about. I was told I was in the diary for a phone call from escalations today, but as yet I've heard nothing.

I now have a new delivery date of 6th November. However, they can't tell me if it's AM or PM. It will be the responsibility of the upholsterer to ring me the night before.

This one had better be right. ;-)

The suite was ordered on 28th April 2012 !!!
  • They have finally got my order right. :-)

Unfortunately, i've found another defect has developed after only 4.5 months of (light) use. On the back of the corner section of the suite, on the same section that the wrong cushion was supplied, behind the cushions, three holes are now apparent where the fabric of the base unit is pulled taught over the frame. They are visible from above. I'll be ringing the customer support line again today.
