What next? Orange price increase

I took out a contract with Orange in May specifically as I was on Pay as you Go and wanted to know how much I would be spending each month. I did tell Orange this and no mention was made of possible increases.

Obviously they have now increased the monthly amount which not only is of material detriment had I known that it could have increased I would never have taken out the contract

I have complained to them and have had correspondance with their Executive Office. Just spoke to CISAS and they say they can't help as it is a business decision.

What if anything can I do next? Trading standards?

In May the rep would not have known, other than the clause in the contract which you agreed to by using the sim in the handset, there is already a long thread on this topic, so unless you are going to take orange to court, best just have a whine and forget it.

I Agree with DUTR and grumbler its in your contract that you signed up to you should have read it before signing it

saying that we all do the same thing because we want the phone more that read the contract But Orange have done nothing wrong in the increase

I'm with Orange and had a letter from them its not worth getting upset over.

But surely they should have mentioned that this clause existed as I specifically stated that I wished to know exactly how much I was going to spend each month. They didn't even say oh there is a clause that has never been used.

No that's why you have a contract and suppose to read it.

Hi Cr1mson, I'm in the same boat, they will / would argue that you do know exactly how much you are going to spend each month, in Dec it was £20 for example in Jan it will be £21. You do still know exactly what you have to pay each month, the fact it is increasing doesn't change the fact that you know exactly how much you need to pay.

If this clause had been pointed out to you at the time, what would you have done? Taken the contract or walked away? Just interested as I don't think I would have walked away even if it had been highlighted to me.

It does leave a bad taste in the mouth and will impact on what I do at renewal. I doubt I will go the contract route. I am more likely to get sim only and purchase the phone I want myself, but that is another story. As for the network I will go with the one that gives me the best deal on my sim only.

I'm afraid that is a lame excuse, you cannot know exactly how much you are going to spend each month, this month my monthly contract was 71p plus vat above usual, as one of the numbers dialled was not a regular mobile number, is that the fault of the provider or for me to have checked if the number was excluded from inclusive minutes?
They do not need to go through the clauses, you have the opportunity at anytime before you agreed to use the sim card, which you chose to decline or ignore.

Sim only can be subject to the same clauses :o

    Agree and disagree!

Some of those who got PPI refunds for misselling would have been when the PPI would have been no use to them. This would have been clear in the contract yet they still got a refund.

Of course, I am interested in rolling monthly, i.e. no tie in, the Three one looks interesting, although mixed feedback about Three in terms of coverage. Perhaps I would have explained it better by saying I won't be tying myself in for 18 months again, and I will never opt for 24 months. I do like the idea of rolling monthly sim only deal.
