ppc fine from Highview Parking

Options
Hi everyone,
I just joined this forum after going thru' the posts in the blog for appealing PPC fines. My husband was sent a fine notice for parking for 4 hrs in a place that had poor signage but the fine letter said I had exceeded maximum stay time.
Incidentally he wasn't driving so he bought time but eventually named the driver despite my strong recommendation- vide your section which says it is not manadatory for the owner to reveal the identity of the driver-which happens to be me:(
The fine if paid within 14 days would be £50 or £90 after 28 days,£40 additional for admin costs:mad:
I have not heard from the company -yet-but would be grateful for any suggestions on how to pursue the matter further.
Hassled driver.

If it's a private parking company, it is not a fine, it's a begging letter, an invitation to send them some money.

Don't contact them again, by telling them who was driving you've saved 'em the fee they pay to the DVLA to find out who yo are.

Read all the stickies and then just IGNORE the begging letters. Do not even think about paying them.
    It's a scam.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

You dont need to pursue it, all you need to do is ignore them from now on.

Hubby needs educating, send him here to look around.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

You are only 'hassled' if you allow the scam to bother you. Just ignore it.

PLEASE TELL YOUR OH THAT YOU DID NOT GET A FINE!!!

It's a scam, do NOT 'appeal' as there is NO APPEAL to a fake PCN. Think about it, this is a private company whose agenda is money...

But as your OH has already written because he somehow fell for the scam, no worries, just ignore them from now on.

Read the sticky threads by Crabman (at the top) and watch the Watchdog video linked on another sticky called 'welcome, please read before posting' (that's why it's there near the top!). Please at least get your OH to sit down and watch the Watchdog video with the paper aeroplane, methinks he will feel a little bit daft for having taken the con seriously:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163

HTH, don't even consider taking this fake PCN seriously! It really is a con, believe me, even though someone has presumably authorised those scammers to carry out their protection racket in the car park, that does not make it a real fine.

There is no comeback if you ignore it, just threatogram letters sent to the registered keeper. Scans of the letters are in the top sticky under various private parking companies - PPCs to us here - they all use the same types of letters.

Do not take the bait, do not respond. File it and all the threats, and they will just give up. This means you must ignore any fake PCN and the debt collector 'scarey' letters which may follow, as shown in our top thread.

All hot air, do not even THINK about paying the scammers. The only time anyone needs a bit of help with this scam really is in the 0.001% ish of cases where a PPC occasionally tries a Court claim. They - the odd sad megalomaniac PPCs who attempt it - almost invariably lose.

And in your case that's not even an issue as Highview are very tame, they are known to just do letters and they never do Court.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Pretty much. Assuming this is a "Parking Charge" and not a "Penalty Charge" (which only police and councils can issue) ignore it, but keep it in a file.
    Can I help?

Just pay the landowner the damages they suffered, which in a free carpark would be zero.

The figures suggest it's a private ticket so just ignore it

Well yes, but you would know that if you read my post above your and followed the links and watched the Watchdog video.

Of course ignore it, how many more links do people need to see that this is always a scam?!

  • Hi,
Received a charge notice off these guys last week for overstaying(Payment £90, reduced to£50 etc). I didn't contest that the car was parked there for longer than the max allowed - but it was getting equipment fitted at the local Halfords which necessitated this. Provided evidence that I had been a Halfords customer and received a letter stating the charge had been cancelled. Now just received a 'Replacement Document' for the same stay (£75, reduced to£50 etc). Have queried by e-mail, but assume based on thred below that best action is No Action.
