Because sometimes they just do because they want to,also some places just have a neutral reference policy anyway irrespective of your reasons for leaving.0

problem is that a lot of places use pro-forma that don't allow for that sort of wiggle, moreover it still leaves the problem of what to put on the application - is lying or misdirection the best option considering the circumstances?0 -
It will depend on what the previous employers reference policy is.The new employer can ask what they want they will get what the last employer wants to give. Some will tell everything, some wont give much at all. It depends, thats why the person needs to clarify what is going to be said if asked.0

Why after a year of separation would you not have your name taken off a joint bank account? I take it you remembered to have all your payments, direct debits etc redirected to your new bank account?? So why not remember youŕe still connected to it?
Seems a bit strange to me.:j Comping wins: Gig tickets, Lovemydog tag, Country Livings Christmas fair tickets
Freebies: Redken hair product, Cow teddy, Pebble grey illuminated compact mirror.0 -
Because all the missing money from the Brinks Matt robbery was getting launderd through the ops account, and she was planning a new life in South America with her ill gotton gains. Shes done well to get off lightly with getting sacked when really she should be in Holloway.0

firstly ive never used this account didnt even no what was coming in and out.
my ex use to live in 1 town and myself another. although this was a joint account i had nothing set up i.e. internet banking or telephone banking as i forgot this account exsisted. when the money laundering happend with the same bank i work for i was at work.
the bank i worked for new i had nothing to do with the fraud but i was dismissed is because it was a joint account and i had joint responsibility which i fully accept if i had access to the account i wouldav done what i normally would do with my own personal account (kept an eye on it).
i got told by the fraud investigators that my ex sold the account details he fled abroad sum1 set up telephone banking and stole 15k from a customers account and transferred it to several accounts so in other words i was used as a scapegoat.
its bit long winded and i cant discuss everything on here.
but thank u every1 for ur replies its very helpful0 -
oh and the onli time i remembered when i had the account was wen i was suspended and got pulled into the meeting thats when i had to tell them everything i no regards to the account!!0

OP sounds as guilty as sin to me! Besides, there is no legal recourse against the dismissal as she has been working with the bank for less than a year. Personally, I would drop this sorry period of employment off my CV completely. There is every chance they will mention that you were dismissed for gross misconduct on a reference.0

The fact that this took place at a different bank makes me thing that there is a report out there on this that has put a black mark against your credit records or elsewhere. Even if you do get a 'clean' or 'basic' reference this might mean that any search the new potential employer does on you will reveal the same thing and that will impact the job anyway.
I'd find out if I was you. Did they tell you in the meeting how they found out about it?0 -

Isn't it the most simple answer that the investigators followed the trail to her place of work and then contacted her employer to find out what sort of accounts she had with them.0
