Glass in Meal - Pizza Express

In the OP's case, all the manager said was that it did not come from the kitchen ? So where did it come from ? Unless people are insinuiating that the OP PUT the glass in to claim compensation.
I would imagine it has come from one of the ingredients. I think it's just a miscommunication if anyone assumes the manager meant there was no chance whatsoever that the glass had been there until it reached the customer's table.0 -
They didn't check what type of pizza he had so they could check the relevant toppings and remove those batches from the kitchen - in fact the kitchens in PE being open plan you could see the didn't remove anything or even check the dishes of toppings.
It was a hot pizza but I have no idea if the jalepenos in PE come in jars or tins- the piece of glass looked like a chip from the top of a bottle or jar as it was curved and quite thick - not a shard like a broken bulb or glass.
I won't use that branch again- and depending on the response I get to my email to PE (by which I mean if they investigate and feedback to us) I'll decide whether I continue using them at all.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

The way Quat posts you would think he/she was an eyewitness to the event and overheard everything the manager said and was also able to see his subsequent actions.
I could say the same about certain others.
Realistically, as the OP has come online to complain about the incident anyway, Pizza Express would do well to reply to her e-mail with "take your £2 elsewhere next time".0 -

it could of being in any one of the numerous toppings or even in the pizza base mix. either way it should be reported to the local EHO as if this come from the base mix, how many bags have been delivered to how many food outlets0 -

only it wasn't £2 was it - it was my main, drinks, starters, my daughter's meal (and trust me OH would not have been so calm if it had been in her lunch)...They refunded us the cost of his pizza which on paper is £12 but in reality our bill was £2 less than it would have been anyway.
BUT regardless of how much money I was going to spend or ended up spending there shouldn't be glass in a pizza and if there is then checks should be made to the kitchen immediately to ensure it doesn't happen again as well as proper investigation after to see what happened rather than the complaint dismissedPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

You have to understand though, no restaurant is going to turn round to a customer and say "oh yes, that foreign body definitely came from our kitchen".
They offered you a fair refund of the price you paid for the pizza, had you paid full menu price you would have had that refunded I imagine. Why should you be compensated to a greater extent than someone who didn't have a voucher?
It's an unfortunate incident to occur, but as I said, nobody was hurt, you got a free pizza, where's the problem?
You replied to my post but I'm not the OP, I only know the restaurant because I read their post.0 -

They didn't get a free pizza. They got a free inedible pizza.
Is it really too difficult to understand that their whole meal out would be spoiled by this? If you went for a meal out with someone, and their meal contained glass, would you just continue eating yours?
Eating at a restaurant is not like buying tins at a supermarket. A meal out is an experience, something like this spoils the whole experience not just the affected item of food.0 -
Surely it doesn't matter how much the op's pizza was or even if they got compo or not..we are talking about glass being in a edible product.
(no offence op) but I don't care what they got out of the deal I would care about what the place did to make sure the next customer was safe.
I cut my lip badly on a glass once in a pub ( due to a dish washer fault) the whole tray was thrown away and the washer shut down, I got a drink for free and a trip to A&E for stitches but that was enough for me as I was more concerned about someone else hurting themselves and to my mind that is what this thread should be about.
Someone could have eaten the glass and cut their mouths and that needs to be addresses and the management should be responsible enough to make sure it was just a one off.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

They will have searched the premises thoroughly to ensure all glass is put aside in preparation for the OPs next visit. I'd avoid ordering the "special" that day.0
