Tripadvisor ranks it 499 out of 1003 restaurant is Edinburgh, can't be that bad then ;)

Has anyone ever eaten at The Water of Leith cafe bistro in Coburg Street?

Premier Inn rates highly in tripadvisor in most locations, but as accommodation goes it is what it is, which is not high quality, just happens to do what they do very well for basic accommodation.

    Hi Everyone

We have just booked a visit to Edinburgh for a few days in Feb Half Term. I was wondering if anyone knew if there were any offers / vouchers for the castle and zoo or any other places worth a visit.

    Many Thanks in advance. x

OK, I've been very proactive and just booked a weekend in Edinburgh, Easter Saturday to Easter Monday, for my OH's 40th Birthday. Flights have been booked along with a hotel right in Edinburgh city centre (with views of Edinburgh Castle, hurrah!).

Anyway, OH loves good food so I was going to book a nice retaurant for lunch on Sunday, a couple with good reviews on Tripadvisor are Castle Terrace and Wedgwood. Anyone have views on these or anything better?

And, as the title suggest, what do we fit in while we're there? Edinburgh Castle? The Playhouse?

Any recommendations taken on board. Want to fit in as much as feasibly possible. Am excited already and it's 3 months away ...

Hi. i love Edinburgh. Have very happy memories of it as got engaged there many moons ago:D We go back as often as we can, but not often enough lol.
If youlove nice food and your budget can run to i really recommend the Witchery. A really fab restaurant close to the castle.
If you're looking for something a little less expensive,- Blonde is also a really nice place for a meal. We have been here a few times when visiting Edinburgh. It's a bit more casual, but the food is top notch.
We were there last Easter for three nights. didn't get to the fancy restaurants music venues etc then, as we had DD with us, so - so did the more touristy things,- bus tour zoo Pizza express to eat etc.
Had a fab time though , and hoping DH and i can sneak away for a couple of nights later on in the year.
Hope you have a lovely time.
  • It's a little bit out from the centre but I've always had great food in The Caley Sample Room - I'm not allowed to post a link but you can google it.

A great selection of wine and beer as well :-)

The zoo is good, the web site sometimes has offers.

For nice food that is not a bad price, light lunch or a full meal, there is also Ambers, downstairs under the whiskey museum, right near the castle.

Plenty to do in Edinburgh - all depends on what you like. The Galleries are worth a visit (National Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, Dean Gallery, Portrait Gallery as well as the Queen's Gallery at the Palace of Holyrood)

Hope you find plenty to do when you're there

If you want to see the pandas at the zoo its best to book your tickets before hand online as you are given a time slot. The local shopping centre does sell tickets cheaper £10 adults, £5 for kids but then you take your chance at the gate of getting a time slot to see the pandas.
