Still here away with work. Weight down to 80.2 so close to starting with a 7. Going to pump tonight so that will help. Spoke to my sister yesterday I really cannot wait to see her it's been so long since she has been over. We will sort Christmas presents out when she is here so that a relief.

Need to buy two more tickets for the Saturday party and find the rest of my Champagne flutes. Could do with sorting out the bedding but don't want DH to suspect anything.

Went to a big outlet shopping centre yesterday it was just before closing time so almost empty. Got some socks for DH, a kitchen calendar and shopping list for SIL and BIL to take to South Africa. Also got some more wrapping paper. Resisted Body Shop and anything for myself. Dinner was a subway sandwich and cookies, naughty but didn't find anything else unless I went and had a sit down meal.

Picked up a MS for this afternoon. Don't really have time for it but it was double money so that is nice. Shouldn't take long.

Need to go for breakfast now as I am leaving here in about an hour.

It's 7.30am and I can report 3 money saving things.

    1. Found MS in town I have to hang around in today (work) will take 10 mins and because it should have been done Monday the pay is £25 not£11 nice. Also found a MS for Friday when I am travelling with work might be blue to even claim it back from work too.

    2. Booked hotel for HQ visit in two weeks, 12% cash back count towards my free night and its my favourite hotel with gym for only £65.

    3. Got my veg box with a free carton of scrummy fresh orange juice for
    Free.

Did pump yesterday with friend really good, thinking of doing circuits tonight if I get back in time otherwise so workout Friday evening as I want to make it three times this week. Please I am able it keep it up without Darren. Last time I stopped the sessions when I was not working with him weekly.

Had a slight crisis last night my BIL and SIL wanted to invite an old school friend and his wife of DH'S to his surprise party. DH cannot stand the wife but he is ok however we only have two tables of 8 and I have already got 15 coming plus the coach only seats 15. They were in the end ok about not inviting them. This was all done via Facebook messages while DH sat next to me.

Need to get up as I need to be somewhere at 10.30.

Not a very happy TallGirl this morning so many things seems to go against me.

Quidco has closed my claim for £15 cashback from Santander 123 credit card saying my claim should have been raised within 8 weeks. Well the message I had was it had tracked but no amount but that it would show up. That is why I left it so long to query it. Rubbish and there dont seem to be a way reply to this.

Secondly got £9 of £60 for Tesco, put it in my bag went off to town did a massive shop. At the till no voucher I must have lost it.

Got home letter from Skagen £42 to repair my watch its out of warrently. They claim on their website to have a 3 year warrenty mine was bought Aug 2010. No answer when you try and call them.

Good news is I have sorted my two spare rooms for my mum and sister and made some of the beds up (cant do the other one as DH might find it wierd that I have done that.

Also put more stuff up in the loft and got the spare sofa cushion covers on as two of ours were really grubby and it saves having to have the whole thing cleaned.

Tried on some trousers I had up there they are still too small fingers crossed in 4 weeks they will fit. Will try them again.

My FIL wants to talk to me about the future of DH and his business. He says he has several options and I need to see him in private. Well I know he wants to retire (he is 86) but I still dread what he is going to say. In my heart I know DH is not up to running it without FIL as he is a bit lazy and with his memory as it is it still not good. Worrying times but being MF does help I must admit. Not sure what FIL will suggest I think the best way forward is for DH to get a right hand man/woman maybe even give some shares to them and then DH takes a pay cut. Speaking to him on Monday lunch time might try and do it tomorrow instead.

Sold FILs cane sofa for £5 (he wanted it freecycled) and the massage chair he has on Ebay is also sold but may fectch more than the £20 starting price. Finishes in 40 min.

Dont feel like playing golf tomorrow might cancel and do Zumba and see FIL (cannot tell DH) I am going but could pretend to be shopping I guess.

Right chat with FIL done and its actually all quite good except DH knew about this but has not mentioned it to me even when I asked earlier in the week.

FIL does not think DH can run the company on his own and he really does want to slow down a bit. He has been in talks with a guy about buying them out. This guy is the BIL of our old neighbours and DH gave him his big break into the industry and he had done so well for himself he is now running a business twice the size of DH but in a similar industry. In effect he would buy out DH but may write into the contract that DH has a job for 5 years (at a lower salary as its a reduced role) and that the company has to continue to stay in current premises for 5 years too. DH owns these so the rent would make up the difference.

There was also be a lump sum paid over the 5 years of apox £100,000. FIL wanted to know what I thought. I am happy about it if DH has a job for 5 years as he will be 55 and he could then retire. His shorterm memory is not great still but he is improving so this would mean o stress for him.

In 5 years time FIL might not be here we could then do what we like may even look to move to my HQ and get a different job not on the road. Could move abroad as no ties here.

Will talk more about it with FIL and DH after his birthday this guy is keen to move quickly but looks like it might be April or June.

Need to find out when DH pension pays out I think it's 50 so 55 could work. This is of course only possible because we are mortgage free. The house is worth £250k the business premises (not incl in the sale) are worth £60k rent would be £500 a month our house would rent out at £1200 a month. Not sure what interest you would get on the capital but we would also have my salary of course.

Lots to think about but all good will discuss with mum and sister too.

Of to play golf in a mo beautiful weather her already one Zumba.

Good news TG, and like you say, you have more options as you are mortgage free :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I couldn't reply to Quidco so ended up raising a bogus claim and explaining that their "contact" system was very difficult to maneouvre. They sorted it out for me and I'm waiting on the claim. I think they make it particularly difficult to contact them which is annoying.

Sounds like you have lots to think about re: family business :)

Thanks for the comments much appreciated as I cannot talk to DH about it at the moment. Glad it's not just me that find Qudico hard to contact still they are pretty good and I have had so much money off them over the years.

Today is the first day in a week I am working from home so so nice. Got so much stuff to sort out that I had to leave last week so will be good to let up to date with things. Also got a long conference call at 10am.

This week will be busy, BIL and SIL arrives tomorrow, DH birthday is Wednesday and my mum and sister arrives Thursday. Got a lot of the shopping done this weekend without DH sussing anything out. Also got all the glasses washed up (they are kept in a glass cabinet but gets grubby with time), had a good clear out in the lounge so no clutter is hanging around and roughly sorted the beds out.

    Still to do:
    • Wrap up presents and write card
    • MS tomorrow but might cancel it
    • check if I did book hotel for next week or not not showing on hotels.com or Quidco.
    • put spare cots into loft so guests can hang theirs up
    • get a hair cut.
    • Thomas back to the vet for checkup need to be booked

All needs to be done by Wednesday evening, wish me luck.

Scales said 80.4 going down but want to get down to under 80. Circuits tonight then Darren tomorrow for the first time in 3 weeks.

  • What did you have for lunch in the end?

That's a good idea with coats... I looked in spare room wardrobe the other day to see if we could accommodate ours there but it's full of our 'best' clothes! Maybe the lighter spring/autumn ones could be moved to the attic till the appropriate season comes round!
