    Hello Mooloo, :hello:

It sounds like you have finally had a break-through following your meeting last week with the various agencies involved in supporting Twin2; I am so glad to read that things there appear to be improving.

Wonder how long it will be before DGD discovers the volume switch on your new set of tree lights? (Think I would forestall that by wrapping it securely in duck-tape or something so the switch is not visible ;) ).

Hope you have a good weekend! :)

    Thanks Robin,
I am rather fighting the stress at the moment. On Saturday morning twin2 rang me to tell me that the DWP have now decided to Sanction her until MARCH!!!! So she is not getting any money until then.!
This currently means no housing benefit or council tax benefit, and the only income she will have is the DLA lower rate level that she has.
Nobody in the world can exist on this!.
The first thing was to tell her not to panic. (Even though I am in side the swan on the water).
Then to tell her that the carer that is taking her to sign on must take the paperwork with her to the Jobcentre and start a protest.
To get the number of the Delos off of her and to ring them to start questions there.
I told her that we would get it sorted. But by god I really do not know how to get it started and how long it will be without any money. My savings are just about gone now. My Credit card has already had more spent on it then is in the bank, and I am for the first time not going to have the full money to clear it. Which is panicing me.
Christmas food is paid for for the day by my Dad, and is in the freezer etc - organised by Biggest of Mooloo. But from my side I cannot now spend anything else on presents and those that do not already have something will have to have something made. Which is going to be a bit of a pressure on me to do, before the end of the month. My Dad will have to have a very hurridly made gift as they are going to France in a couple of days to my sisters.
My sister and Brother will have to do without a gift this year.( and thier partners).
DS will not be able to have driving lessons for his birthday and Christmas after all. I cannot afford to do it, while I try and get his money and his sisters sorted. We need to keep them in food, electric and Gas for the unforseable future.!
This scares me. I doubt that the DWP will be in a rush to get it sorted out and the Christmas is so close.
Maybe I am panicking too quickly. But having see the way the new sanctions have been introduced, I fear that my two will not be the only ones caught out.
DS's few hours that he does at the pub, which he declares to them, will be the only funding he has. Which means that the DD's etc that are in my bank on his behalf will end up coming out of my money.
I fear that I am going to end up in debt because of this, and I have not been in any debt (other then the council going up and down due to the changes, etc), since i was bankrupted in 2007.
Now if this is happening to my family, how many will be affected, and how long will it be before the housing associations start the eviction notices on how many others>
My fear of them loosing thier home is the biggest next fear. My little house will not cope with them all in here. I dont want them all in here. So its important that we fight the right departments URGENTLY.
Now if I have a right to panic I think that this is one of those occasions.
I am not sure that I can keep the swan on the water for much longer.

    To the DWP Happy Christmas!!!
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • Would it not be better if you went with your daughter and her carer to find out what is going on? At least you can hear it out of the horses mouth (so to speak), rather than hearing information second hand and also you can put their case across.

Happy to be corrected, but I thought that HB and CTB came from the council so would still be able to be claimed even if sanctioned from DWP???

Tuesday morning, I hope was a positive morning.
There were representatives from the housing, 1 lady, Delos, 2 ladies, and Liveability 3 ladies!!
    Myself and Twin2.
DS had gone out and his hanger on friend was gone. Thank god.
I sort of ended up chairing a meeting really.
The up shot is that Delos are going to help with benefit claims and financial problems and see what they can do.
Liveability are agoing to send in a worker as of next week to work with her three times a week and then down to two when she is established in a routine. They will try to help her with her budget (once the other is sorted thier end of it) and with her day to day living.
The housing was a stuffed shirt, who I was not pleased with, but the other 5 ladies agreed with me that it was better that DS was to stay, (bedroom tax issues in the new year), keeping the other idiots away and twin2 not wanting to be on her own.
They also agreed that she should be on ESA and not on JS and that she will go to the doctors, (Liveability to go with her) to get her counciling and her anxiety tablets sorted out.

Dear Mooloo, please do not panic!
'Phone the DELOS ladies and ask them to sort out the DWP immediately as they have taken responsibility for this aspect of Twin2's life. Call them back every morning for an update on progress. Be the squeaky wheel. ;)

Am I right in thinking Twin2 would not have to sign on if her claim was moved to ESA rather than JSA? That would save the bus-fares and problems remembering appointments.

By the way, did you ever get in touch with that lady who campaigns for disabled people's rights? Think she would be very interested to hear the saga of your twinnies and the failings of the Benefits Monster.

Thanks, yes we will have to now re apply for the housing benefit etc and prove she is not earning anything. Taking bank statements. Except she has been on paperless banking on line for a while, so we will need to get her a printer to get it sorted out. I will do that tomorrow if I get the chance.
The DWP cancel the benefit as soon as they cancel their benefit. But that doesnt mean that she knew that until the housing told her her benefit had stopped. This now is affected since a benefit stopped in July (When she did those two days at Silverstone!). Nobody told her that her housing benefit, or the other benefit payments etc that had been set up would be cancelled and stopped.
So now its going to everyone and asking for it to be back dated. Alas the usual amount of time is a bit near the mark, think that it will be a huge effort to get it sorted out, so its not plain saling.
I hope that we will get it sorted but the time limitations are now of a worry.
The carer went with her today, and they have helped her fill in the Appeal at the Jobcentre. But so far we still need the Delos to go to the Council with her.
I will shout Robin. I did contact that woman that you were talking about, by email. but I never got an acknowledgement or any sort of reply at all. She has probably enough on her plate.
I think that the MP should have also got back to me by now, but not so. (Not that one off in the jungle was she??? mmmm Oh no. Could have been a reason for no response I suppose.).

After telling the charity to get the carer to help twin2 today, I had to turn my mind to something else as I was really hovering on the indignant and the injust.
So I came home and made some place mats for my parents for the caravan, a couple of little hearts for the christmas tree, and then making some Christmas fabric/patchwork cushions.
One is completed but another in the process. It has kept me from going mad.
I am really tired now and so I am off to bed.
    Thanks for the responses.
I will keep my nerve and not panic. I am going to keep on until the girls have what they need. (I may wobble but like a weeble I will bounce back!!!).
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Before you do that, check that they will accept statements printed from the internet. In some cases you have to order the paper statement from the bank - I don't know if this applies to DWP but it did when we were applying for our mortgage.

Alternatively you can sometimes print from the library, or an internet cafe.

Hi Mooloo, you can ask the bank to print statements off in the branch - I had to go into the Spanish Bank and the Haliiifax recently to ask for 3 months' worth, and they did it for free as I get my statements online only.

    Hope that helps
