Doyou still get housing benefit when under a JSA sanction?

    Yes as long as you continue to meet the conditions for HB/CTB. You need to tell the LA and it's likely they'll require you to complete a change of circumstances form.

    No you can get it on a nil income.

    Hardship payments are classed as JSA for HB purposes


    The conditions for HB/CTB are the same as when you were on it before (I presume) i.e. your liability to pay rent on a commercial basis and that your income and capital are low enough.

    It will automatically stop, but if you go and prove to them that you have no income (with bank statements) you can claim because of nil/low income.

    You didn't mention it would automatically stop. Normally you have to contact them before any payment changes but in this case it will stop without notice. Just a warning for them as it took me by surprise when it happened to me.

    This is correct. If you are asked by your HB office to prove you are still on benefits, call your benefit delivery centre and ask them to send out a letter of proof.
