Ok. Well the Wii is not great for the fighting games anyway.

Mario Kart is a popular game. Racing but cartoon. If you want 'real' racing try Need For Speed. I have the older 'Carbon' edition which is enjoyable.

Then you have the Platform games. Super Mario Galaxy v1 and v2 are both very well rated. The v2 is one of the only games to get 10/10 ratings on various review sites.

You also HAVE to get a Guitar Hero game IMHO. Such brilliant fun for all wannabe rock stars. Especially after a couple of drinks with friends in a party mood.

If you are into sports, then something like FIFA (football) is a must. I wouldn't get the latest FIFA 12 but FIFA 11 for a fraction of the price - especially if you get it pre-owned and not new. NHL 2K10 got good reviews (basketball).

Then there are snowboarding games you can play with the Wii Fit Balance Board.

You also have adventure games such as Lara Croft Tomb Raider ( a bit older now so may be harder to find) and some of the Lego series of games like Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Try to read reviews to give you an idea of how the games have been received, as there are a few lame ducks that got out.

Just a tip for anyone, we just got EA Sports Active 2 for £4.98 in Game including the heart monitor!! Getting a workout game for less than a McDonalds seems a good deal to me!

We love Mario Kart, but it seems to treat you as you treat it. At the moment my OH and I are considering resetting it because it has become so vicious, but it would just end up the same because we are so competitive! We also love Shaun White Snowboarding, but make sure you have the silicon covers on the wiimotes!

get the micheals jacksons experience game, its really really fun with levels to suit age 7+ great party game if you select inhuman on the thriller song!! a good laugh.

the OH also has zumba fitness wich takes a bit of getting used to, wii sports +wii sports resort is also fun and the boxing gives a good upper body workout and get you sweating the more you play the harder it gets with pro single player too.

i dont buy nintendo branded accessories either, cheaper other makes are just as good if not feel better in quality sometimes, get a rubber controller protector also, i the strap takes a beating and gets weak over time mine has come away when i was playing boxing.

We have just recently got "Go Vacation" which is really good. Lots of sports style games and plenty to keep you busy.

The "Just Dance" type games are good and I was going to try the Michael Jackson one as above, also there is an ABBA one available.

We have the balance board and Wii Fit plus, which I do go on occasionally, but not as often as I'd like to ! Like the previous poster said, you can use the balance board with other games as well.

The back of the game box will tell you if it's balance board compatible, just look for the symbol.

I found best for working up a sweat was Just Dance (any suffix), noted it was mentioned above too

Another vote for the Just Dance series here. First one's probably cheapest by now, the only real difference between them is the set list anyway, so just choose one based on the songs you enjoy. Also the Rabids game mentioned earlier, a lot of fun, accessable to everyone.
