Hi All,
With the new year comes the fitness drive! We have been looking at getting a Wii console and Wii Fit balance board - We saw a very good deal at Game for £119 (Thanks hotukdeals!)
I guess our question is; is it worth buying a Wii console with a new model in the pipeline? I know many people may question the effectiveness of a WiiFit for exercise but its something we have fancied trying!

If your going to use the Wii to get fit dont bother, purchase some fitness DVD's instead you will soon discover that you can play the Wii sat on your coach just as well as you can moving around in front of the TV.
To increase fitness you need to raise your heart rate, playing Wii games will not do this sufficiently !0 -
Thanks... we are not sure if any of them give anything like a real workout, we have been looking at Playstation Move, Kinnect, Wii etc and the Wii seemed "most fun"0

My 2 daughters & myself use the wii for fitness and love it the Wii fit is good for keeping a record, we love the running & cycling.
Best workout on the wii is the Zumba (which you can get for other consoles)" I would not change you for the world, but I would change the world for you"
Proud to be parent of a child with Autism:D
When I see your face there's not a thing that I would change 'cause your amazing just the way you are0 -
The Wii Fit board is a bit of a waste of monet tbh. The zumba game is good for workouts, as is Cardio Workout if you can track down a second hand copy.poppy100

I love watching my wife doing hula hoops, gets my pulse up :cool2: ... oops did I just think that out loud? :embarasse
I got a wii this year partly because I have no interest in the hi resolution pretend soldier blow everybody away stuff. (if you want to be in the army join the real thing is my philosophy)
Its good quality hardware and simple to use but now its in its twilight years its also cheap to run, plenty of games and accessories around, I bought a compatible (non-Nintendo) fit board that works perfectly and a second 'compatible' motion plus controller that looks and works as good as the original but for a fraction of the price. I got a pack of stuff you put the controller in like a steering wheel for Mario for about £2.50!0 -

Yep! :rotfl:0 -
I love the wii fit, and you can use the board for other games too like snowboarding. It certainly has increased my fitness level and my flexibility. My thinking is it gets me moving when i would probably have been sitting still, so it must be doing some good, and it certainly leaves me feeling happier too. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

We all love the Wii, lots of great family games and for moving, Just Dance is fab.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Thanks everyone, well we picked up the Wii and WiiFit and love it!
Does anyone have any other game recommendations please..... even if not Fitness type games it would be good to have a couple of (cheap) games aswell to make the most of our new purchase0
