  • Yip, I would like to see it offered on the website first before I applied for an account.

It is an offer that started on Monday 5th February

It ends by the 23rd March the AATS transfer forms must be with the transfer team in Glasgow

Branches will not go into detail as it is not them to gives you the £100
  • The £100 Switcher's offer conditions:

    1. To qualify for the £100 switching payment customers must open a new Halifax current account between 5th February 2007 and 23rd March 2007. All account openings are subject to acceptance.
    2. Customers must use our Switching Team to transfer Direct Debits and standing orders from their existing account elsewhere to the new Halifax current account.
    3. Our Switching Team must receive completed switching instruction forms by 30th April 2007.
    4. Customers must make payments totalling at least £1,000 every month, into their new Halifax current account.
    5. The £100 switching payment will be paid into the new current account by the end of the month following the month in which customers make their second payment of £1,000 into their account. This second payment must be received before 30th September 2007.
    6. Payment applies to first account opened only, whether sole or joint. Joint account qualifies for one payment only.
    7. The £100 offer is subject to change and may be withdrawn at any time.
    8. The offer is open to new current account customers only and not available to existing Halifax or Bank of Scotland current account holders. New customers opening a joint account with an existing sole account holder will not qualify for a payment.
    9. Our Student Current Account is not eligible for the £100 switching payment.

I already have a current bank account with Halifax.

I don't earn more than £15,500pa but I do have over a savings account with Halifax aswell.

Can I use Martin's trick of withdrawing and depositing money in the account... at least £1000 of deposits every month from savings to current and back again?

This would be quite easy but maybe a bit suspect if someone looks into it.

    What do you all reckon?

You will not be eligible for the £100 - but you can redesignate your account to the High Interest account. Takes 5 mins in branch
  • This looks like a good thing to do - the T&Cs say you have to use their switching service to move DDs etc. If I give them my dormant Barclays account, would I still qualify (as it has not DDs or anything - only openned it for the free ££)?
  • i did the barclays £100 offer and got the money (plus £25 for messing me around!!) so understand the principles. however, this one seems to need standing orders etc, i'm assuming i can't just open it and put in the £1K's to get the £100? anyone know for sure - what if you live with yr parents and don't have any standing orders? (in my dreams  )

    l&k to all

you will not qualify if there are no dd's present
  • the £100 is for using the switching service - to switch and transfer dd's and standing orders from another bank account elsewhere

you also need to fund the acc with £1000 each month

I have made a mistake by applying but saying no to the switching service.Do you think I will be able to ask for the switching service after the accounts been opened so I qualify for the £100 ? as I only opened it for that and also do you think if you just switch 1 or 2 direct debits to them it will be ok as I don't want to move some of them and I don't have many DD's anyway
  • how did you apply?

they wil ask your excisting bank for a list of all your dd's, they then write to you to ask you confirm these are right, so I'm not sure you can select only one or two of the list

I applied online, saying no to the switching service .

I will move my other DD's and S/O 's to another account for now do you think that will be ok ?
