  • I've just had a look at the Halifax link. I can't see where it says about getting £100 for switching though???
  • Me Neither.

I had a look at the link and there is no mention of it. Do you think its automatic.

Also - if you pay in 3 months @ £1000 can you withdraw it straight away and still qualify ?

    Thanks for any advice.
  • Hi folks,

At the moment, Halifax's website isn't great for us - we can either land on a page mentioning the rate 6.17%, or on a page about the £100. The bonus offer is definitely on though. It credits after 2 months where £1000 has been paid in. This £1000 does not have to stay in the account.

  • I went to Halifax on Monday to enquire about opening an account and they said that I would have to deposit £100.00 to open it .
They made no mention of the £100.00 that they would give you for opening an account. They told me that all banks would require £100.00 deposit to open an account.
I went straight across the road and opened a Nat West account with no deposit at all!!!
  • Yip, I would like to see it offered on the website first before I applied for an account.
  • I already have a current bank account with Halifax.

I don't earn more than £15,500pa but I do have over a savings account with Halifax aswell.

Can I use Martin's trick of withdrawing and depositing money in the account... at least £1000 of deposits every month from savings to current and back again?

This would be quite easy but maybe a bit suspect if someone looks into it.

    What do you all reckon?

Dear fools gold click on the link mentioned in the text about always in credit. When you are on the halifax page look at the left in the lavender coloured drop down box (it has bank accounts at the top) the bit about switching is in there.
hope you get this reply as I'm new to threading .:o Gerloo

thanks, Dan....I would like t oopen one of these accounts for the free £££, but I don't want to switch. do you know if they would be ok with me just paying in £1000 each month and putting some direct debits from it ( like payments to credit cards)?

The £100 deposit orders the card. You can't also do the transfer forms to switch until this £100 is paid into the account to activate it.
